er, thanks, ynsaen... I think... That's computer-generated, computer-readable, obscurity, masquerading as human language.
Thread: Poser's Interface: What to keep and what to change? (no gripin'...) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You know, people tell me that Poser uses XML. People tell me the UI is easy to change. So, can somebody tell me how?

If they've done the Low Res version right, it will let people do some fiddling around, see how it looks, and even make up a few freebie add-ons -- hair, smartprops, maybe even clothing.

Looks good, and I prefer that slightly toonish look to some of the more realistic renders of similarly-proportioned figures.

I keep saying this... Poser keeps using a odd mixture of standard OS elements and own-design. For instance, resizing the document window. I can't see any strong reason why that, the camera controls, the light controls, and other stuff which seems nailed in place, could not be a proper window, with the ordinary frames and move/minimise/maximise/close controls. The actual controls for the lights aren't a standard OS function, and don't need to be changed to an OS standard, but sometimes they just seem to waste screenspace while I'm doing something else. Companies such as Microsoft and Apple put a lot of work into the UI design, and a lot of that seems to be ignored in Poser for no reason I can see.
Thread: The next version will surely fix it, right? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
What I've been known to bitch about is the user interface. Two big things: 1: Colour choices and font sizes seem poor for making the display readable, and there doesn't seem to be any was of adjusting them. 2: Some elements are Standard Windows. Some are CL-style. And some CL-style material could be Standard Windows. I'm not going to claim the Windows UI is perfect, but Microsoft did a lot of work on how it works, and how people use it. Apple have done the same for theirs. For the standard jobs, it makes sense to use standard OS methods. For other stuff (look at how the lights can be moved), there isn't a Windows standard. I wonder if some of the bugs come from people trying to do ordinary stuff in a new way, and making their job more complicated than it needs to be.
Thread: special announcement from daz | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm getting confused. I think the jokes are poisoning the context of the discussion. But if DAZ3D tried to limit this announcement to Platinum Club members, I don't think it's likely to be something about a change in who owns the company. Stock Exchanges, at least, have rules about how stuff can be announced, and I think that rules out the involvement of any company with shares traded on an exchange. Maybe they're having a sale.

Slight mis-focusing is my guess. Compare the wings, the nearer one seems sharper. And the bee doesn't seem parallel to the focal plane. So the abdomen might be slightly closer to the camera than the head. The details of the flower would fit with that.

One advantage of proper sepia toning is that it is more stable. The black in a B+W print is silver, andd can be slowly affected by chemicals in the air. Sepie toning, and others, replace the silver with something else, often a more durable metal. Colour prints don't have any silver in the final result, they use coloured dyes and will fade. Inkjet printers have similar problems with fading dyes. Don't worry about sepia toning yet, a lot of old photographs are basic silver anyway.

Nice textures, Lyrra, but there's maybe one slight improvement you could make.
I picked this up from a thread here a week or two back. The way memory allocations and graphics stuff is usually done, uncompressed texture-map sizes can make a huge difference. 2046x2048 fits the memory allocation, but any larger and the memory use jumps. Something to do with powers of 2.
And some of yours are just over that size.
It could be a load of rubbish, but a slight reduction in the size of your textures would make a big difference.
I'd probably do that on my own working copies. I have to be a little careful on my system.

For those who still wantr their big cat fix, the BBC has made several short series of programs, following various big cats about their daily lives in Africa. The last set had a female cheetah facing down a lion. And the cheetah has started sitting on top of the camera vehicle to get a better view.
Thread: Andygraph's Cyborgs | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Folks, it's andygraph's choice what price he asks. Personally, I wouldn't be as definite about never reducing the price. I can see the markets shift as new versions of Poser, Vicky, or anything else, are released. Eventually, it might be a choice between cutting the price of an old product and not selling it. And it's still andygraph's choice. But how much Poser 3 stuff is selling now?

Remember to check for morphs intended for the creatures Lemurtek took the heads from. There's a set for the Poser cat, for instance, which lets you turn the cat-morphs into foxes, and others. Check the downloads section of the site referenced. The pic uses the Tobi character (with little_dragon's revised UV mapping) with a fox texture I'm working on.This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
