Kattman - HOW could the top 20 BECOME nothing but Naked Vicky In a Temple, when that's what it has always been from the time it was first started? There has never been a time when it was NOT "All NVIT". ;o) *********** As far as the AOM thing - I know they wanted to be more inclusive and have artists from other softwares get into it - as they were under-represente before, but it's much less than fair that the Bryce & Poser artists, who make up well over 90% of all the artists posting here, only get 1 chance each year for AOM, and the other 10 months are divided up among the less than 10% of artists that work in the other softwares. It would seem fairer if the Byce/Poser people, being so vastly in the majority, got a chance more often, like every other month, with alternate months being for the other softwares. Even then, less than 10% of the artists would be getting 50% of the total opportunities, but it would be much fairer than the current system.

Thread: Has anyone else noticed? | Forum: Bryce
I guess I'm fortunate in that a number of my friends are good artists, and have been inspiring me ever since I've known them. When somebody you KNOW is a good artist tells you "hey, that pic is good" it's a lot better than the familial "yeah, that's nice" which so underwhelms most of us. My best friend is an outstanding artist - I've seen portraits in oils that she painted that damn near could pass for photos. When she looks at my stuff, she'll notice the good points, and she almost always has a pointer like "that boat hanging on the davits would look more real if there was some backscatter light reflected on it from the water below" - things which give me practical ideas on how to improve my technique. As for feedback here - well, for me it's usually almost nonexistent. My latest pic which has over 60 views here has 1 comment - par for the course around here. The same pic posted over at 3DC has about 25 views, with 14 comments - most of which are by artists whose work I already know and respect. It sure helps when somebody you know does very good work leaves some positive feedback on a post.

Try John-on-the-Run (when they come back on line - right now they're down). Link is below. There's some very good P4-man textures there.Thread: Can't light my fire...need help using a volume material | Forum: Bryce
Clay's vol. fire is great - really versatile. I use it for lots of things myself. Tjohn is right, turn OFF the following for the fire material: casts shadow, receives shadow, and self-shadows. Real fire doesn't do any of those. Also, with those settings off, you can park a radial light right in the heart of the flame mesh and it will work great.

There's also 3DWin - a multiple format file converter that works very well in translating dxf to obj files which can then be run thru UVMapper. I use it all the time. Check the link.Thread: Ok, ok, so I just had to know! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I just backed up all my Bryce and Poser stuff onto CDs - finished about a week ago. It only took 31 of the 700Mb CDR's. I have another 7 full CDs of nothing but zip files that I had already saved & deleted from my 40Gb hard drive. CGjunkie? Who me? You betcha! (Charter Member of CyberPackRats Anonymous)
Thread: Other sites setting cookies while in Renderosity? | Forum: Community Center
Well, I trash cookies regularly, like after every session if I go somewhere other than my preferred hangouts like here. And I always have it set to notify me before accepting and 99.99% of the time I tell it NO, IF I have cookies activated at all. Thanks for the info.

I was wrong, it was not John Malis, it's by Kathy Predmore of Cloudland Castle Designs. It's in the freestuff over at 3DCommune, but here's the direct link and the text from the download page, just in case. http://cloudlandcastle.com/poser4/characters/ccdmenataur.zip This is a new character created by me. Horns donated by Neal M Burt, Bryce3DArt, downloadable at Propsguild. Armband and wrist band from Gloria Gast, and clothing from PoserWorld Steve Shanks. All included with the PZ3. ATTENTION: If the above link is broken then try this one, just copy and paste into your browser address: http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/cloudlandcastle/vwp2?.tok=bcnKGnPBUb__1cSh&.dir=/Poser&.dnm=ccdmenataur.zip&.src=bcThread: Assembling minotaurs | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have a minotaur somewhere, which I haven't used yet. I THINK it came from John Malis posergamers.com.
Thread: Tails! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Bloodsong has a "tail pack" over at 3dmenagerie.com, in the free "Poser goodies" section. No devil tail, but it has a number of animal tails that can be applied to any figure.
Thread: Ships Wake Redux | Forum: Bryce
Pretty good. THe outer edges seem a little jagged though, and the comment there is right, it needs to flare out more broadly from the bow of the ship, that narrow a wake would have to be made by a speedboat. You've done a good job, nevertheless. I use one terrain with 3 rounded V shapes to make my wakes. (That's 3 V shapes with 'rounded' tops.) That way I can get the bow wake, the usual secondary from alongside and the final wake astern. I haven't done any really large ships, but it works well for small & medium sized vessels. See my pics 'Bayou' and 'Dawn in Wu Tien Shan' for how this works for me. http://www.renderosity.com/gallery.ez?Form.SortOrder=UserName&Start=1&Sectionid=2&Form.Search=Allen9

If that's your line at work, then you MUST work for microsoft. ANYTHING anyone else calls a problem, they call a feature.
Thread: Attack of the Clones... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Unfortunately, Georgie boy has stopped making real movies out of this and is just producing what amounts to damn-near plotless (or pointless plots) compilations of special-effects sequences. Maybe he should just title the next movie "10,000 Special Effects."

[[Before you know it you'll have a 10 gigabyte runtime folder stuffed to the gills.]] Yep, it's toooooo true! I'm doing a complete backup of all my poser stuff right now. 14 CD's full and another 8 or 10 to go. Addict?? Who, me?? You betcha!
