Doc, From my extensive research :-) It seems that there were quite a few variations in Hansom Cabs. Wheel sizes, window shapes, and metal fittings varied, possibly depending on the actual builder. I think I can safely say that the cab is scaled proportional to the horse :=@. The question then, is, how many hands is the Poser horse? (runs away.....arrgghh). Cheers Ian

Hi, PhilC has some Victorian clothing at his site, not sure if they are for Mike though? Steveshanks has some clothing based on items from the film 'Zulu' (circa 1879) at the Poserworld site (subscription required). I am finishing off a Hansom cab & horse harness, which will be free here once completed. I also am reworking a kit of parts for creating generic Victorian brick buildings, such as cotton mills, town halls, police stations etc, but that is a little further off. If you find any other Victorian items I would be very interested. Cheers Ian

Thanks, Veritas777, I looked at the western stagecoach photo, it looks great, it would be intersting to see a render of the model. Do you have any photo's of the harness used with these coaches? I havent't tried searching the net yet, so I might be able to find a suitable pic. It would be interesting to try, especially since it would involve more than one horse, and therefore likely to be a conforming 'challenge'. I need to sort out the conforming for the cab harness. If possible I want the harness to conform to the horse, but also for the reins to stay aligned with the cab. I have a couple of ideas to achieve that. I have seen the thumbnail for your harness, and I will download it as soon as I can, it looks really good. Cheers Ian

Moonrose, I am working on a harness to go with a Hansom cab I have made. The harness has blinkers, but is much simpler than the one in your photo. At present the harness does not conform, so it is a way off finished. I could post a picture if you wish. I think I might be able to extract the bridle part, so you could use it with an existing conforming harness. Cheers Ian

Thread: Need some technical advice on verticies, weld, split... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
From reading this tutorial, the model is first welded throughout, and then split, with a splitting angle of 43 degrees. This will split the mode around the edges of the indentations, which are coloured black in the final image. The final model has a mixture of welded and unwelded vertices, and therefore a mixture of smooth and sharp (hard) edges, stemming from the 43 degree splitting angle. Whilst the final model has no additional facets, it does have additional vertices, compare to the fully welded version.

Sharen, Splitting a model will create more vertices. If you have a simple welded cube, with a vertex at each corner, it will have eight vertices. If you now split this cube, it will have twenty four vertices, one at each corner of each face. This is sometimes not obvious, because the model will look just the same in wireframe mode in Poser. A welded model will look different to a split model when rendered, because Poser tries to smooth across welded edges. Not all programs work to the same precision, in terms of the number of decimal places with which vertex coordinates are stored in exported files. I do not have UVmapper or Poser here to check (at work), but you may find that some of the changes in file size that you are seeing is due to the change in precision of the vertex coordinates stored in the files. Hope this makes sense, and is useful.

DraX, OK. So if I go into Product Showcase I see all commercial posts from across the whole forum. That would be great! (you've thought about this haven't you) :-)

DraX, I agree. Good point. If I go into Product Showcase I want to see all the posts, whatever my flag is set too.

Would it be possible to implement another flag, like the nudity flag, lets call it, say 'advert'. If the were an option in your profile to hide 'advert' threads, you could choose to see them or not. Would only work if the merchants would agree to set this flag for adverts.
