Thread: Poser 6 Question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You can add you old P4 runtime to your new P6, so you don't have to reinstall everything to p6 separetly. As for the interface; it is more complicated, but you'll get used to it. It's just one of those tradeoffs I think :| More options, more complicated. And the new firefly engine is nice. Is it worth it? I suppose so, alltho P6 is incredibly slow on my machine like 3 times slower than p5.. Odd. I haven't used p6 much because of this but perhaps others have more positive things to say. And perhaps it will run just fine on your machine. :D

Thread: Are there any male celebrity look-alikes for Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I would love to see a good Sir Alec Quiness morph as well or Ewan Mc Gregor (Obi-Wan) I tried to do both but M3 simply doesn't have enough morphs and his head doesn't morph very well. That and I haven't found good reference photos either. I'm currently trying to morph Mace Windu (S.L.J.) but again I feel like I would need 100 extra morphs to even get close :(

:O Really? Thank you :D goes to look I just remembered that there was a pretty good Vin Diesel character in renderosity freebies. "Roddick" it was called. M3 based. With textures and everything. I've used him a couple of times.

Quite honestly I can never tell who these look alikes are supposed to be. I think I've only been able to regognice 2 or 3 people out of like 30 :P And the 2 that I regogniced right away were freebies as well ;) I wish someone could do Hayden from Star Wars or Natalie. I tried but after my comp got a virus most of my files were deleted.

No problem. Just allways check the zip files for a readme file. It usually tells you where to locate your new stuff and how to install it as well. English is not my motherstongue so I hope you understood what I wrote. Perhaps someone more qualified could take over from here. I desperately need some sleep. :D P.S. I installed most of my stuff in the wrong folders as well when I started using poser. But hey you learn from mistakes. :D

Well to find your new hair file, first open the libraries tab in poser; then open the hair library and look for your new hair file. If your new hair file was a cr2 file, then look for your new hair file in the figures tab. You don't have to import anything if you have installed things correctly. It's allways good to try and remember the folder names where you installed your new items.
But briefly; Open libraries tab; New figures (cr2 files) are allways in character folder, hair files can be in props (pz2), figure (cr2) or hair (hr2) library and prop (pp2) files are allways in props library.
then just double klick on the icon once you regognice the item that you installed and it should load fine. If it doesn't then you have probably installed something wrong and must help poser locate the files manually.
This sounds confusing but once you get the hang of it, it is quite easy to do. God knows I installed 50% of my stuff in the wrong folders when I first got poser. ;D

Check the zip files that you downloaded. They usually include instructions as a readme file. Here is a brief summary on where the files are supposed to go:
"pz2" files go to poser6/runtime/libraries/pose /
"pp2" files go to poser6/runtime/libraries/props/
"hr2" files go to poser6/runtime/libraries/hair/
"cr2" files go to poser6/runtime/libraries/character/
"Obj." files go to poser6/runtime/geometries/
texures go to runtime/textures
(textures can be jpg. bum. or tif or any image format basically)
So for example: If you have downloaded a hair file, the zip would include something like this " hair.hr2", "hair.png" and "hairtexture.jpg" and finally "hair.obj" in this case you would put "hair.hr2" and "hair.png" into runtime/libraries/hair/folder of your choosing. The jpg. file would go into runtime/textures and finally the obj. file would go into runtime/geometries
If you are using PC you can drop the "runtime" folder from your zip file into poser6 folder. The program will ask you if you would like to overwrite the exsisting files and just klick yes. If you are using Mac tho, then DON'T do it. Hope this helps a little.

Thread: Creating clothes from OBJ files | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hmm...Geep probably has some tutorials on this but the method I use is with Phibuilder and UV mapper. First I import the mesh into poser and scale it accordingly (In this case I would scale it so that it looks ok when James is in zero postion.) After that I open UV mapper and create groups in the mesh that match James (rcollar. rforearm and so on..) and then in phibuilder set the hierarchy. After that open Poser and klick on the "convert hier file". Then it's a matter of adjusting the joints to match the host figure (the figure that clothing is supposed to conform to). Alternatively you could just slap on James's bones in the setup room. This is definetly not the best method but it's one that I am compfortable with. You could google Phibuilder and UV mapper, with these keywords you get some tutorials as well on creating conforming clothing. Nerd3d has a good tutorial as well. But perhaps the real gurus can help you out better. It's time consuming to create good clothing tho. Atleast it is for me.

Thread: help needed with bizarre lighting issue | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Very odd indeed. Does your default lightset (the one that opens with poser) have lights that cast shadows? Did you delete your default lights prior to adding new ones from the library? This is all I can think off, Im afaid. Try adding lights to a scene that has no lights. Allso check the ammount of shadow you have in the light properties tab. Might be that poser decided for some reason to lover the shadow rate to 0.
