Owning both, I use both, they're differing tools and I love them both. The most common reason I've come across for Bryce being regarding as a hobby product is that it's lacking in mesh modelling ability. However the light engine in bryce does some great things that are a nightmare in Max (realistic sunlight, true ambience, caustics...) As stated earlier in the thread it's not the tool it's the artist that makes the difference.

There's just to many good books out there, Authors- Tolkien, Larry Niven, Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Ray Bradbury, Terry Brooks, Michael Moorcock, Heinlein. As you can see mainly fantasy/sci fi, add in a few military fiction books and the odd ghost story and that's me done... Sad as it is though, my current night time reading is advanced action script for flash MX, a good book and it gets me sleepy very quickly :-)

Lol, Adjust your monitor , yeah like I hadn't thought of that.... (monitor is at it's maximum brightness) I'll move to my other machine later and take a look, that machine is fully calibrated. I know the image is supposed to be dark but I can only see a couple of the light areas.

I get the feeling that either my monitor is dying or some of these images only look ok on a TFT or similar that is very bright
