You can pretty much rule out Siggraph for a release. An announcement, Yes. Absolutely. Taking what kupa has said, they still have a lot to do. In addition, there has been ABSOLUTELY NO pre-release information sent out to media/other outlets. No advance advertising has been performed. No company releases a product that way. We are looking at 4th quarter at the earliest.

You know, all of you guys are jumping to conclusions for a book that NONE of you have seen, regardless of the author's past track record. You are making blanket statements and rendering a judgement based on absolutely nothing. So much for objectivity here.

My guess is that we will not hear anything until mid Summer. Siggraph 2002 is in July (and in San Antonio - who was the genius that combined those two things?). I would expect announcements around that time, and the product to be demonstrated there.

Just to clarify, since I have been seeing these types of posts both here and on Usenet. The purpose of GMAX is strictly for game modelling. There is and has been no intent to provide rendering capabilities, and it has not been touted as such. It is strictly for use in rendering game models and levels, providing a unified interface for multiple games. Just an FYI, since there seems to be a lack of understanding on what this tool is for. Yeah, I went back today so I could sit it on the demos for all of the major products (Maya, 3DS, Softimage)... Went back to the CL booth, met Anthony today, bought the Pro Pack at the show (along with a lot of other software elsewhere), tried to weasle some P5 info out of Anthony (no dice). Became a demo slut for a couple of companies, who recognized me from yesterday, and were performing payback for questions I asked them in front of the audience... Hopefully CL will release the rolling Poser video online. It is kinda cool for people who only see static images (which it also has). Luckily next year it is in San Antonio, just down the street from my parents in Austin, so hopefully they will have a big annoucement then... - Ray

Yeah, using IE5.5 I was also having problems, but this is what I did... Right click on the link and select to open link in another window. I get an error window, which I close, and then the download box pops up. just FYI (got my copy)
