Quote - This update does not improve the Indirect Light artifacts I've been getting in many scenes. Renders also still have garbage around the border of the image, not related to Indirect Light. Should I make a ticket on the support page?
Please.
We have an SR1 targetted collection of rendering improvements with changes to the logic that will better address the artifacts you're seeing as well as IDL improvements.
Today's Hotfix deals primarily with an IDL rendering issue related to eyelashes and transmapped hair. Stefan has already optimized the IDL rendering logic, and will be further improving in prep for the SR1 release. I don't have a formal schedule, but if the Hotfix could serve as an indication - we'll be rolling out our improvements quickly.
Cheers,
Cooper

Thread: Possible Problem with Poser 8 thumbnail preview. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Frederick,
There's a note in the Read Me about Poser 8 not supporting the older thumbnails. When we re-architected Poser 8, we removed a code layer that was crippling our ability to optimize the application and expand features in many areas, including the UI. Due to removing this antique layer of code, we had to surrender support for the old previews and the old Poser 4 renderer. The Poser 8 readme explains this as well.
For the betterment of the product in the future, these were two areas we had to give up.

Thread: P8 : Perfectly clean install. No errors. Program opens and closes so fast! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A tip on working with the new P8 figures... In the head actor are many sculpting morphs that are categorized by facial region. These are in addition to the expression morphs and the ethnicity morphs (which can be blended as well). Plus the figures' heads can be even further sculpted in with the face room shaping tool.

We plan on having a small hotfix available perhaps as early as today that will enable Normal Mapping. I'll post a new thread once this goes live.

Thread: The New Poser 8 Characters and Clothing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
NolosQ - In the "Specialty" pose sets for both the Alyson and Ryan character you'll find an "Add Deformers" pose set that you can apply deformers to the clothing items, these are the same deformers used for the figures, and will help mimimize poke through. As well, there are some really informative Read Me files that will help the full body morphs propogae through the conformed clothing.
The content Read Me files are located in your Poser 8 Content directory: Poser 8 ContentRuntimeReadMeSmith Micro

This is accurate - the link posted above is to a beta page that was incorrectly staged as a live page. Our web team has been notified and will be rerouting the link.
My apologies.
I should also have added a sincere thank you for all your enthusiasm, and confirm that Poser 8 is not yet for sale.
Cheers,
Steve Cooper

Quote - Is it ok also for Poser pro basic ??
No, SR1.2 is for Poser Pro full only.
Poser Pro Basic has it's own unique SR1 updater, found on the same update page, at the bottom:

edit: Chris, if you refresh the updates.html page in your browser, it should direct you to the correct location. Cheers!

And the better the data, the better the window into what our users want.
Then why don't you just ask the users directly what we want?
I too was thinking "marketing" through much of the filling out of that survey. The questions were rated on levels of importance, but the questions were the questions you Poser guys were asking.Do I think it's important that Poser have a more traditional interface?
What does that mean? I guess it means you're considering changing the interface, possibly after a decade of reading complaints about it? But that depends on if you perceive through this survey that the users who filled it out think so? And I guess that could be applied to all the questions. Why was there no empty form where we could list things we would like to see? You've commented a few times to comments people have made regarding the survey, but have not commented at all to the number of intelligent suggestions made just right here in this post, if even just to say "thank you for the suggestions."
I would have felt better about it - felt more like it was a sincere gesture if there had been a space to put suggestions.
Or, you could just do like Autodesk does and tells us all to fork off and deal with whatever we get. ;-)
Sorry I can't engage on any potential feature discussion. It's too competitve a landscape to reveal ones hand. As for the survey questions? They are presented in a classic Likert Scale which allows for us to debate internally at great length the meaning of each.
There are many staffers with a long history of working with Poser and this community that are reading through the various threads, thinking about the many suggestions, figuring out what can or can-not be delivered. And the survey complements that knowledge base with a more statistical way to look at everyone's global perspective on Poser.
