In order. It was a wedding. Relatives in other parts of the U.S. were able to see pictures to next Monday. Yes I like the color shift. The original was too far into the red area. I'll limit the dpi to 72. I know better, long day, senior moment. Thanks for the comments. P.S. Years ago I used to do wedding photos in 4"x 5"format. The digital camera is about the quietest and most unobtursive instrument you can find.

1024 x 768 on a Sony UltraScan which gets most things done. If I do more photo work I may increase

You will find that digital is different in the area of available light because of the linearity of the exposures. Film has unique character at the bottom of the useful range. Often referrred to as "resiprosity failure" I personally like digital for available light.

Is'nt it interesting how little we change to much improve the resulting "print". One of the best parts od computer imaging is trying incremental changes for the cost of time. In a darkroom you not only have the time but also the paper, chemicals and waiting for the process to complete.

Picking where to compete is an interesting exercise. That will soon sort itself out. Many beginners have a great eye and natural talent and need to be encouraged to submit. Since this forum is mostly to help us all improve and find our own eye any thing that meets that criteria is good .
Thread: Fisherman's Shack | Forum: Photography
Comment: Originally the shot is of the beach and the shack incidental! The shack is center and not large enough to be the prime item. Now I would crop the right side to where the dune and roof are the same height. Remove some forground, it moves the building closer to a natural center of interest.

It really changes the image from a simple picture (good) to an interesting graphic. I had the feeling that an ad should soon appear.

Only an opinion. Work the highlighted area in the forground to lower the shine that will show the dog more, then check the cropping you want

My favorite camera for several years in the 1950's was a 4x5 format Bush Pressman. With a 127mm wide angle lens. You could read negatives directly. ASA 50 film and lots of light. We have come a long way. On subject of camera shake. I have considered buying an inexpensive painters tool for roller extention. Making an adapter that would be placed on the camera. The result is a short (36/72 in.)telescoping monopod. Very light and aids the stability. It would be quick on/off and if lost easily replaced at any hardware. I'll send some pictures of vise-grip tools adapated for camera mounting. Regards, Bill

My experience is that this sort of thing is better being done than discussed. If you hold the rules (suggestions)reasonably firm for each six months period it will do just fine. Increasing participation will mean some changes in site structure and linking but that will be shown by the way we all use the forum. Regards, Bill

There appears to be a wide area of creativity opened by making the photographic image digital. I able to attend a lecture by Ansel Adams assistant and biographer. Her comment was that Adams skill was two fold, selecting a view and then great print making. He disliked color because he lacked the print making control to make his print become equal to the initial vision. Some of Adams great prints are not in the original negative.

a Very good choice in size balance between the old vehicle and the flowered area. I have tried to visualize more and less vehicle and come back to your choice.
