I am doing all my stuff on Toshiba core 2 duo 1.66GHz, win xp professional with 3GB ram (used to be 1 gb, all my pictures in gallery are made on 1 gb system) and GeForce 7600 128 mb vram...works fine, but when you wanna do more complex scenes, you soon hit the limitations....I have Vue 6 ....no problems at all but  agree with Bruno....displacements and in many case radiosity  are  no go area :)

I like this thread!  As Fixer said, it's bloody cold  here , that's why I would never swim with basking shark in Cornwall :(    :) but there are still some Whale sharks in Belize.....

Melikia.....no i havent diagnosed it yet. It started like 4 months ago. First I thought it was something not important, then it happened usually  over weekend looking like my Toshiba taking days off.....My friend  said it could be some kind of virus....i cleaned everything, dig into registry and stuff, and it seemed to help, but not for long. Now I believe it's overheating issue....dont want to spend money for @repairing@ it, but at the same time quite afraid of opening it myself and clean  the fan...as they did for my  friend with another Toshi....The plan was to sell it and buy some nice quad core, now I can' do it knowing it;s not working properly....:(

I know this very good. My  laptop started turning off itself randomly....that's why I havent posted anything in the  gallery for ages, coz it;s kinda frustrating loosing the work  every three hours or so :(

Sorry to hear...our dog passed away couple of years ago, when he tried to hunt down (probably) the local wild boar...crazy idea when he was  maybe even smaller than your dog...yeah he was crazy a little bit, but nice and funny (when there was no storm in sight:))) Very sad...

Well, it's quite difficult to compare two different softs with different approach and technology. Yeah, it looks amazing, but it is more about the artist as Rutra said and you can  see it at CG as well, someone commenting - @This looks better than a V-Ray render! I guess its the skill of the artist, not the tools that he uses.@
