I see he had to drag this into the forums. This was the comment he left my image. "I think it's beneath you. Childish posing of naked females? There is no need. Find a girlfriend." I reacted in a clear, precise manner to this trolling. I see I made a mistake in posting an image here. I'll try to avoid that in the future.
Thread: Poser to Bryce & how do you deal with it? | Forum: Bryce
Shadowdragonlord has a very good point. Alot gets lost in the translation from poser scene to OBJ to bryce. This is the main reason I don't bother setting up my textures in poser, or strip the textures with Grouper. It's quicker for me to do all the texture work in bryce. It is, however, best not to have ambience and diffusion total more than 100. I usually go with 80 diffuse/20 ambient for outdoor scenes with simple lighting. For indoor scenes, I use no ambience but make up for it with complex lighting. The shoulder problem looks due to the mapping not being perfect, as this is pretty close to the front/back seam.

I believe it was Royloo who made a posable Anubis figure, I'm not sure if it is still available. Lemurtek's Wolfgang figure can make a very convincing Anubis....I've plans to make a conforming egyptian style outfit for Wolfgang, if I can ever finish the dozen or so other projects I'm working on. Lemurtek's figures are available at http://www.3-darena.com/ in the downloads area. There is also an Anubis headpiece, but the readme file doesn't specify who made it. GG of poser junction made some egyptian deities, but I'm not seeing them in the downloads area of her site.

You may want to contact Groingrinder from the rhino forum, he had a very nice one up for free, but I don't rememder where it was I downloaded it. It's a 15meg model, but looks awesome in bryce....8^)
Thread: Oh, can I have War-Wonton with that too, please? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Cooler had a cool set of oriental polearms over at 3dcommune. Questor had a nice darn-do broadsword, but it's no longer available to my knowledge. Are you looking for something specific?

Sorry, here's the link.Thread: Rhino | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I usually use the OBJ from the geometries folder or one exported from a zeroed figure (if the figure has alot of morphs already applied, like Stephanie or V2). I run it through a utility called OBJto3DM that allows it to be opened in rhino, then scale it up to a convenient size to work with. Just remember to scale your model back down before exporting.
Thread: Bryce4 vs 5 | Forum: Bryce
I'm in the same boat as you, bazze. I've held off on upgrading due primarily to the stability problems. I'm not sure if that was ever fixed. I've been using b4 for many years now, and have had the program crash maybe 5 times. There are only one or two features b5 has that I am interested in....soft shadows and ultra-hires terrains do sound cool.....and that's about it. Not worth $80 bucks to me. However, if you guys keep coming up with cool freestuff that only works in b5.......maybe this grumpy ole bastid will change his mind. Save that slap with the big fish for the guys at Corel.
Thread: Looking for cr2 converter partnership.(warning, large post+nudity) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I would offer to help, but my skills are not really up to par yet, and I couldn't do them the justice they deserve. I almost never buy anything from the market, but I'd buy these.

Heh, I've got that same robe on the harddrive somewhere... Thip did some nice robes, were in freestuff at one time but I'm not sure if they're still there. I've considered taking some of the cloth meshes I've downloaded and making them posable, just for personal use. Glad it's working out for you.
Thread: Shading a exported Poser obj | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm not to familiar with Carrara and its inner workings, but it sounds like it is using the grouping of the figure as opposed to the materials (lShoulder/lCollar as opposed to figernails/eyelash etc...). Two things I can think of that might fix it. One is uvmapper, another is grouper (in freestuff here). Have you experimented with different export options? Is this an obj. or a 3ds. export?

Yeah you might want to try a clean import. Check the "make polygon normals consistent" and you might want to try "weld identical vertices" also (the weld may or may not be a good thing, according to how this was modeled). I like to use uvmapper to set up my groups and materials, and avoid the grouping tool like the plague. Personal preference, but it might work better for you too.
Thread: (OT) What Book Are You Reading? | Forum: Bryce
Re-reading 'Cat's Cradle' by Vonnegut and enjoying the hell out of it. Still my favorite writer, after all these years.... Other favorites would be Harlan Ellison, Roger Zelazny, Orwell, and Stephen King.
Thread: Lost Work, - has anyone else been there? looking 4 a hug. | Forum: Bryce
Don't feel too bad....odds are your skills have improved since then and you can do it better now....8^) I lost my first 2 years worth of bryce files (all the bryce3 files) to a harddrive crash. All that's left are a few crappy renders. Most of it was stuff that would embarass me now but there are some that I would have really liked to keep. Back it up, then back it up again. We feel your pain....
