Quote - there is no 64 bit version of Poser 10. Poser 10 is a 32 bit application.
Bill

Quote - The best way (for me, at least) is to scrub the animation and look for problems like this before running sim. If you find one, add a key frame (move the offending body part enough) to avoid it. the final position will still be the same, just the route to get there will be different.
Bill
yeah that much I know, its then the final pose has body to bodycontact that is the real issue

alright I will have to give that a try thank you again for helping me through this it has helped loads not just for the project I am working on but stuff to keep in mind for future projects

thanks again, yeah I am not really worried about speed of the render... just that it renders. I just wasn't sure if Lux Render would solve the bucket size problem, if it would then great. Cause my problem isn't that poser takes up too much of my Resources its that I have Resources to spare but the limitations of Poser 10 don't allow it to use them. So let it hog the computer as it is I am spending all day/ multiple days trying to remove enough from the scene to make it render well :P
I will Definately look in to that WandW for the Lux thing though reality is pretty reasonaly priced... i just didn't want to buy it if it wasn't a viable solution... does the free version of Daz come in 64x? cause I was under the impression that only the pro version did...

thank you for all the segestions, I am sure the population of the scene has something to do with it as it has eight fully clothed people 3 visibale and fully decked out rooms of a house etc. and I am sure some of the items (and possibly the house bits them selves) have a sucky polygon count. hopefully some of these other ideas will help :)
I am now kicking my self for not seeing about upgrading to pro, but I just really couldn't afford THAT much...but I think the next time I do have the money I will be... Another question for you all while I am asking... would getting "reality" for poser help in this case or not?

Quote - Assuming you installed to your C: drive...
C:/Program Files/Smith Micro/Poser 10/Runtime/Python/poserscripts/ScriptsMenu
You will then see the scripts as options under the SCRIPTS button at the top of the main Poser screen.
One word about EZSkin.... make sure you import the definitions you need before trying to use it. There are full instructions in the EZSkin2 user's manual.
thank you :)

Quote - > Quote - Okay so here arequestions for something I couldn't find in the manual:
is there a way to check or uncheck all the light emitter boxes at once? Goting through each object and unchecking the ones i don't seems a bit tedious.
Get SnarlyGribbly's Scene fixer script; Very useful and free...
http://snarlygribbly.org/3d/forum/viewforum.php?f=8
If you are using IDL and/or Gamma correction you need to turn your light intensity down, and likely use fewer lights...
EDIT; grab EZSkin while you are there too to easily uitilize Poser 10's SSS on skin...
once again thank you very much... sorry to be a pain...but what folder do py files go in?

the other is , the sadows in the lighting set I am using are a tad too light, and I can't seem to figure out how to get them to be a bit darker with out fucking up the over all lighting scheme?
I tried to look up shadows but wasn't finding what I was looking for.
Quote - if you can afford the 1 month fee, look at Mark Bremmer's poser 10 tutorials on Infinite Skills.
Thanks I will look in to that, though I may have to wait, I was fortunate to get Poser 10 on an IOU when poser 8 stopped working as it is

I get that reading the manual can be helpful, but he could have been more helpful for one informing me that there was a full manual on the Disk (yeah that didn't occure to me at first.), I was thinking he ment the thin thing taht comes in the box, and he could have possibly suggesting a section (I found it btw).
The other thing I'd like to say is, yeah maybe asking questions is "lazy", but if some one asks me a question about a program and I know the answer I happily share it in conjuction with suggesting the manual or other tutorials. Fact is I feel I have a fairly decent handle on poser (or I felt I did), but I ran in to some stuff I'd not seen in my previous version... so I asked about them.
to WandW thank you for the advise I am toying with those settings now and the renders do look better and I will certainly look up collision detection in the manual.

Quote - So when are you going to upgrade to Poser Pro 2014?
when you pay for it :P
Quote - And, sorry to say, begin reading the manual.
no you aren't "sorry to say"... You opened a thread with a title about asking questions just to say that. which means you went out of your way to do so. if that was going to be your only advise then maybe you should have just skipped the thread no? I mean I thought asking questions is what the forum was for...
Quote - IDL is in the render settings. I use the Render Firefly script under Scripts>Partners>Dimension3D, which in addition to giving control overmore parameters, allows one to save and load custom render settings.
Speaking of scripts, you will need the MaterialMods>changeGamma script to set up most materias' transparency and bump maps to look good in renders using Gamma Correction, which set at 2.2 by default. To use the script, use the value of 1.0, select "All props and Figures" and then "All of the Above" which will uncorrect the appropriate maps....
Thank you for your help I will do those :)

Quote - If an object is a light emitter, it means that it is treated as a light source when using IDL.
I have the usual Poperties in the Properties tab for my lights; which ones are missing?
You can indeed add your Poser 8 content folder to the Library as an externl runtime.
In the Help>About Poser screen, make sure the version is 10.0.3.26066. Of not, install SR3, found here...
http://poser.smithmicro.com/poser10-updates.html
okay so the light properties thing seems to have corrected it's self before nothing was showing up
and is IDL is in the render setings?

Quote - Check your mail xenophage, I think it came out pretty well.
Quote - ... a friend of mine has made me a pretty damn good one ^_^ how ever he forgot the grey border around the cross hair ...
The grey border is there, but most of its polygons were inside out, so it wasn't showing up. Apart from a few little quirks the model was pretty good.
that is so awesome thank you!

and box didn't help either... maybe I'll see if it does better in hex or see if the guy who made it can apply my texture in blender...
