Sorry, not a frequent poster on this forum either, but I do read from time to time... Came here this time looking for reactions to the fact that DAZ have obviously lost interest in supporting Poser. It was bad enough with the other generation 4 figures, but Kids4 really take the cake!
As a Poser user since version 3, I don't like DAZ Studio - don't like the UI, don't like the renderer, don't like the lighting etc. etc. and I'll be damned if I'm gonna be forced to use that application! So effectively, my support for DAZ figures ends here.
Poser 6 figures had real potential and were the best supported since Posette. But not enough to compete with DAZ. I'm truly sorry that the Poser developers chose to replace them rather than improve them. Otherwise Poser users might have been in a better position at this time.
Thread: Possible Solution to Poser 8 Render Crashes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Wow, setting the render process to 4 threads really did wonders for me!
Thanks much for the tip :D
And I gave Poser permission to access the internet every start-up, that took care of the invisible library problem.
I don't run a screensaver and I don't have a cat. Now I can start rendering ;)

My problem is that even uncomplicated scenes render excruciatingly slow in Poser 8 :(
A simple v4 with hair portrait rendered in the main window takes two hours (compared to 10 minutes in Poser 7) - with indirect lighting it's an all-nighter.
I also can't play a game or watch a video on Youtube while I render - it simply hogs ALL the memory. Will rendering in a separate process fix this, or is there something else I'm doing wrong?
My system is a Dell XPS 420, Intel Dual Core 2.33 GHz, 3326 MB RAM, 32 bit Vista

I use an Image Tank with a 40gig drive, but it doesnt have a monitor. Maybe later models do. Could that be what youre looking for?Thread: Slightly OT but anyway | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A little late maybe, but Id just like to pass on a simple method for preventing viruses/vira from spreading through address books in e-mail clients such as Outlook Express. In your address book, create a new contact. Call it "000" with e-mail address "000". It will automatically go on top of your lists of contacts, and if your e-mail program ever attempts to send out batch e-mails to everyone on your contact list, you will get an error message about an invalid recipient. That way you will know that something suspicious is going on :) If everybody did this, we would never have problems with repeated virus infected mesages from the same sender, as mentioned above. It could only happen once, then the sender would be aware.

When in doubt, always do a Google search :) OK - my fault for not posting the link in the first place... When you apply the hair to male models, you will probably find that its not a perfect fit. Change parent to "Universe" (in "object" menu), then you can move it around as you please. When youve reached the desired result, change parent back to "Head" and you can then pose your figure without the hair falling off :)Thread: Searching for an Guy like this ... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

I have this problem often, esp. with props. Its been discussed before in this forum and we reached the conclusion that it probably had to do with running Windows ME or 98. Whats your OS? Maybe its time to update. You could also try to get a RAM recovery app like RAMpage or MemTurbo, and recover memory just before you do a render. Since installing MemTurbo I get fewer render troubles. Actually I dont think Ive had this particular problem for several weeks.
