Maybe check the 'Max.' and 'Min.' settings for the shadow map. I say this because I've noticed that when I save a scene that has spot lights in it and then re-open it, alot of the 'Min.' and 'Max.' settings reset themselves to 1.00... This, of course, ruins all the work I've done, but...
Thread: Does Carrara not like me???? | Forum: Carrara
I work almost entirely in the Vertex Modeller. I'm curious about the problem you're talking about with the Lathe Command. I'm thinking back on all the times I've used that command ... and I don't think I've had the kind of problem you're talking about, if I understand it correctly. Maybe if you posted a visual I could provide an answer... maybe.

Some good tidying up on the Vertex Modeller. Some simple things like being able change the colors of the wireframe so I can clearly see what I'm doing. Maybe a way to select a Vertices and be able to rotate around it...

I've had the same problem and found no practical solution for it. I end up having to quit out of Poser and starting it up again.
Thread: How to adjust Body rotation point? | Forum: Poser Technical
I believe you can take care of that with the Joint Editor... which is under the Windows menu (?). Open that up and then select the body of your figure. You'll see a couple crossmarks that sound like they need to be moved around a bit. Pretty easy stuff to do. The Joint Editor and the Grouping tools are both pretty importent tools when you're making figures. Good luck!

Another thing I might suggest if you're looking to create a greater sense of depth is to put some back lighting in. Looking at your image I'm noting that most of it seems to be lit straight from the front (or the front light is wiping out the back light). Tweek around your front lights so they're coming in more from the sides... Maybe reduce their intensity a bit (or rather, reduce the intensity of the lights coming from the left or the right to get some shaping going on)... And then put a few lights in that are coming from behind. It cretes a sort of 'rim' around the objects and pulls them out of the background.

This is probably the first Artistic thing I've seen since I've been visiting (two years). True, I don't do a whole lot of Browsing around, but... It's just nice to see someone create a very involved image (rather than someone taking Vicky, changing her nose, taking her clothes off and coloring her red and then saying they've created a new character). Cool stuff.
Thread: The Posing Camera | Forum: Poser Technical
The Posing Camera is great when you get into using more than one character or your single character moves to and/or from the center to a distant area. It's great because you can just click on it and you're with the selected character and your rotation is now around the center of that character.... for Posing or whatever it is you need to do... This all said... I should ammend it. It's GREAT when it works! I use it alot. that's why I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with this particular situation.

Carrara 1.1 is now available at Eovia.com. They fixed alot of the real obvious problems. I'd say it's worth the buy now.... But they still have a long way to go.

And so the users of Carrara rejoiced with the slaughtering of lambs and the consumption of many brands of breakfast cereals.

Actually, Return of the Hexapus would definately make it fit more successfully into the B-Movie genre.... NOW the idea is getting good!
Thread: Where are my Figures going! :( | Forum: Poser Technical
Having a similar problem. Got a suit, boots and gloves. I conform the gloves and boots to the suit and then save the figure into my figures library... When I come back and try to open it up, the only thing that appears is the suit. Nothing else... Props do remain parented to the suit, but... No hands (gloves)... No feet (boots)...
