"Jeff asked this member to keep this here in this forum. This member did not listen. " Is this an Arnold Schwartzenegger-esque way of saying "This member has been banned." ? Paul
Thread: Something JeffH doesn't want you to know about...PLEASE READ | Forum: Community Center
Heh... Dammit sbertram, don't you know there are rules here? They are: 1. Your posts are subject to deletion or movement to another forum at the moderator's discretion. 2. The moderator knows all. 3. The moderator doesn't need to give you answers. 4. If you question the moderator's motives, he can give you a warning ( ESPECIALLY if there was an apology somewhere in the post - What were you thinking apologizing? Don't you know people have been banned for that before?! ) Please remember these unwritten rules when posting. And whatever you do, don't mail the following people: tammymc@renderosity.com timmc@renderosity.com audre@renderosity.com spike@renderosity.com Aww screw listing them all... Just pull the list off the "Team" page... And if you wish to not deal with having posts moved or deleted, just swing over to www.poserpros.com. Over there it's kinda like the wild west... everybody gets a gun, so be careful who you shoot at. :P Paul

"Just incase you don't understand that, it means that I do no drugs, little alcohol, no sex before marriage, and I'm quite the nice guy." I'm pretty sure there's a contradiction in there somewhere... Paul
Thread: Kupa's interview... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks, Sharen... A lot of the "hard hitting" Poser 5 questions could not have possibly been anticipated, for what it's worth. When the interview was being given it was well prior to the release of Poser 5, and the experience I had was with a Candidate version of the software that ran perfectly on my system. I tried to present the questions that were meaningful to the community at large, not focusing on Renderosity, but considering as well the outlying sites, such as DeviantArt.com, PoserPros, 3dCommune, etc. The interview was designed to be more about Curious Labs and the state of technology than it was about Poser 5. I wanted to focus on the broader professional market, such as Poser's ability to crossover to higher end production, the future of character animation in the changing internet, and some thoughts about the community, who Mr. Cooper gave credit to for building it, and what impact it has on the ever-changing software. I cannot possibly explain to anyone who has not spoken to Steve how much charisma and genuine caring he brings with him to a conversation. While it appears that some people are disappointed in the interview ( judging only from responses within this thread ) I feel that for the purpose I approached that interview it was wonderfully presented. Please also keep in mind that this presentation was entirely at my expense and the expense of those on the team ( thanks Windy and Stephen ). I did my best to contribute to the community and to our publication without expecting or receiving payment. There were deadlines, outside pressures, and scheduling difficulties throughout the entirety of the project, working around SIGGRAPH, Curious Labs' intensive beta program ( and yes, it was intensive ), and final rushes for Poser 5. I hope that the written words of the interview convey the strength, conviction, and faith of the Curious Labs team. They endured a time in their history that almost saw them bankrupt, a time in which Steve Cooper had to lay off his wife, and most of his staff ( I think they were down to eight people ). Well, I hope this clarifies a few of the questions here. Good reading! Cheers! Paul Jenkins
Thread: Has anyone heard of their IMs being intercepted here? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"Next on list, find out how Entropic learned all our secrets and figure out a way for him to disappear .... " Heh... Making me disappear won't solve a thing! I learned it all from the neighbor's cat and she'll tell the world!!!
Thread: 20 Kieras is too much, even for me. | Forum: Community Center
It's fixed now, Crescent, thanks! I IMed fur in conjunction with this message. ;) Now that I'm thinking about it though, 20 Kieras isn't too much, really... but 20 idling comatose Kieras isn't quite the same. ;) Paul
Thread: Has anyone heard of their IMs being intercepted here? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I would personally write a note to the admins and tell them who was claiming it. For one, it's illegal, two, it's an invasion of our privacy and a threat to the community, and three, if they made it up, then they should probably receive a visit from the admin or the police to let them know it's not tolerated. ;) Paul
Thread: Win 2000 Users " Poser 5 " Beware!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"dam registration process " Does this involve beavers? If beavers are involved, I don't want Poser 5. Too much trouble messing with the things.
Thread: Has anyone heard of their IMs being intercepted here? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes. It is commonly known fact that Renderosity admins read every IM and actually print them to post on the walls, pass them around at work, and make fun of people while plotting secret bannings and practicing politically motivated censorship. In fact, they commonly check all IMs for keywords like "warez", "dissent", "revolution", and "Legume" to insure that they give extra attention to the ones that might cause a new rival to rise up and throw off the yoke of tyranny. Paul P.S.: Sometimes I've even heard that they intentionally cause trouble by intercepting an IM, replacing the message text with a flame or innuendo, and then retransmitting the modified message.

"I bought the dam program and now I have to wait till they give me the ok to view my own galleys that have nothing to do with them? " dams and galleys, huh? Sounds like someone's feeling nautical today.
Thread: AHHHHH!!!! >>POSER 5 SUCKS!!!!!!!<< LAST STRAW......... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
For the record, I think people are giving tim a rough time. Every single one of us in this forum has, at some time or another, made a complete ass of ourself. Tim's a good guy, and has a lot of talent. So he got ticked off and ranted? SFW? I do it all the time, and people don't hang around the thread after the fact giving me hell... well... except Ironbear, but he's allowed to because of senority. So the problem's fixed. We got from point a to point c with a bit of bickering at point b. let's drop it and get on with life. And if anyone feels otherwise, remember that, at some point, you'll jump into a cause the wrong way, and look silly, and I'm sure you won't need the rest of us hanging around beating on your ego and dragging out the past after the fact. ;) Of the many people in this thread, I'm not the one who should be taking this position. There are many others here who have had to live down far more stupid rants than I have. Paul

"It's a shame, though, that it takes better than a 1.53ghz system to use this program, especially considering the code has been in the works for quite awhile...or was it just slapped together in the last 6 months targeted at the next gen of systems ???" Huh? I'm using a 600 Celeron with 384 Mb of RAM on Windows ME, and I can still run Photoshop side by side without significant slowdowns... looks inside his machine to make sure nothing got upgraded while he was sleeping... "You keep up the work of CL apologist, and I'll keep snickering." I gotta try something, Bear... no one's ever gonna pay me for my art, that's for sure. ;) Paul

Honestly, though, I look at Adobe and while I will acknowledge their good points, which are many, I will also say that there is a bad point that would disturb me. They don't care about us. I think CL truly does, and I'm not saying that out of any form of naivete'. ( insert Ironbear's snicker here ). When you consider what they have added to PPP and P5, and cross check it to the community wishlists, you'll see a lot of places where we decided what would get included. sure, there are still things we asked for that we haven't seen, but there's less reason to believe Adobe would pay any attention to our desires whatsoever. Just my 2 dollars. Paul

"Why would that be horrible?" Because I like the people at Curious Labs, and don't give a damn about the folks at Adobe or Corel. ;) I'm honest as I can be, Bear, but I won't pretend to be unbiased. ;) Paul
