I'm digging through this section on Cloth Groups and I'm stuck on one thing that I just can't figure out. Choreographed Groups. I understand the principles of the dynamics, and am getting to a point of mastery with the dials, and the concept of a constrained group is pretty clear, but I'm afraid I just can't apply the language of the "Choreographed:" definition. If you could clarify for me, I'd truly appreciate it. Posting publically, because I think most people will have trouble understanding it as well, and I want to know if those reading my dynamics tutorial will need to have a reference for this ( and, in fact, if I should write about it ). The Choreographed group is not part of the simulation. It responds to keyframes. For example, if you want to have a flag on a pole being carried by someone in a parade, you would create a choreographed strip on one edge of the cloth and keyframe that to follow the pole (probably by parenting). That way, the flag moves along and waves as its carried. This differs from Constrained groups, which simply follow the motions of the underlying figure (like P4 conforming clothing). Hope this helps, Anthony H.

Choreographed groups would be the part of the cloth that might be held in the hand or would be pinned to a pole etc.

Like a handkerchief held in the wind by two fingers of one hand. The verts under the finger tips should part of that group.

That's how I understand it anyway.

Hah! Helps a ton! I was wondering how I could make a character grip cloth and have it not slide away without screwing up my friction and density settings! Woohoo! Paul does a happy dance and begins uploading his tutorial!
