GPU rendering works, but use the Hybrid sampler, not Hybrid SSPM.
I've also tried it and I watched it for a few minutes gobbling up all my RAM and then it started filling up my Hard disk with Virtual memory blocks.. when it hit about 20 GB of RAM used I killed it. :p

I don't think the water worked though, what kind of object should I use to assign water material to.

Here's one I posed last night, left to render overnight.
There's a few mistakes, so I'm currently rendering again after making some changes. I think the semi-sphere I used for the water in the bowl is too transparent - the water isn't visible. I forgot to change the focus_distance dial on the camera - the main subject is out of focus.

For those people who have never used LuxRender before, or even for people who've started already. A brand new and clear tutorial for new users has just appeared on the luxrender wiki and also a more advanced render settings document.
New Users: http://www.luxrender.net/wiki/New_User_Tips_and_Tricks
Render Settings: http://www.luxrender.net/wiki/LuxRender_Render_settings
That should get everybody up & running with LuxRender.

I did wonder why you called it Pose2Lux. :)
So whoever is doing it, can I get a copy to play with? ;)

It might not be finished by a long shot, it might not be a 'real' project, sure I have to tweak some settings and materials, but I'm using it for all my renders now and with some pretty nice results.
Considering the whole LuxRender project is only at pre-0.8 version and features and materials are still changing on a weekly basis, I'd say we're not that bad off.
I am looking forward though to a time when BB has some time again to get something a bit more polished done. ;)

Metal, glass, mirrors you'll probably want to replace with native LuxRender materials. Glossy skins often turn out a bit too glossy, it would be good to have an option to mix in a bit of translucency and a bit of fuzziness. Most other materials already export quite well.

Rendered with the 7.1 release of luxrender, forced to use 'direct lighting' integrator, everything else got spoiled by fireflies.
Lights used: 1 red point light for the fire glow in the blast hole.
Green ambient light from the glass on the canister.
White ambient lights from the corridor's overhead fluorescents.
Finished off by a low value 'bloom' lens effect.
Skin is a straight export from Poser, no tweaking or mixing in mattetranslucent. No C.C. subdivision.
A new weekly v0.8 luxrender was released yesterday, so I'm going to re-render the scene using that version.
