The list of my favourite artists has vanished, and so has my list of favourite pictures. All that's left is a note concerning the image I had decorating my home page, no image just the line of text that once stood below it... it took YEARS accumulating that list of images and artists, I'll never be able to replace all that by hand. I created it by looking through the 'What's New' list and of course those things are not new anymore so .... arrrrgggghhhhhh! Nooooooooo! What have you DONE???? I hadn't noticed the damage done before, because I hadn't visited my Home Page... and companies wonder why we hate it when they 'upgrade' things! Sheeesh!

Thread: I plan a tribute to peedy she was a great friend | Forum: Bryce
Hi Karl,
That's a lovely thing you are planning to do, I'm sure Peedy would be very proud.
There are some wonderful resolution images of the entire Tharsis region aren't there? I look forward with great interest to how this project turns out. Good luck with it, my friend.

Thread: We have lost another one | Forum: Bryce
That's very sad. These days people you know and actors you liked in your youth are all disappearing, like Omar Sharif just yesterday.
Peedy was always generous with her knowledge, a real help to many, me included.

Thread: moving my user objects from bryce 6.0 to 7.1 pro | Forum: Bryce
Chris, the internet is constantly dumbing down so that eventually the keys on your keyboard will light up in sequence, urging you to say things like "Yes, take all my money, please" and letting in all the horrors.

You can use the same method to copy any of your own objects, materials, textures, skies - anything, plus any older Bryce stuff that didn't come with the newer Bryce7Pro. For instance I bought the Bryce Bible aka "Real World Bryce 4" by Susan A Kitchens and Victor Gavenda and the disc at the back had a load of stuff on it, I copied this over to my Bryce in a similar way. Very useful.
By the way, even though that book was wriiten for Bryce4 almost all of it is still relevant to Bryce7, it just doesn't talk about the latest stuff, like instances, displacement and such like.
Hey Chris, love your little blue avatar, but why is he so sad?

Thread: Largest resource of free Bryce textures? | Forum: Bryce
I dunno about the largest, but try taking a look at "FreeStuff" here on Renderosity, then there's Daz, I think there's a whole thread that goes on forever with posts to freestuff, some of which may be Bryce Textures, but also look in BryceFreepository on Daz3d, then there's RuntimeDNA.
Also it really depends on what you mean by "Bryce textures" Do you mean actual things like "rocks.brt" or just an image that you can use as a texture inside Bryce? Because if it's rocks.brt, bump.brt or psychedelic.brt then it'll be rather limited, but you may find something on ShareCG.com, but if it's an image to use as a texture - well, then the world's the limit!

Thread: Overclocking? | Forum: Bryce
Yes....
Thing is I already run Bryce in High all the time.
I have 4 cores on this machine.
But what I was wondering about is Overclocking. I have this prog called "ASRock ATuning" and I just wondered about what sort of settings would give me an overclocked PC.
I did once have 8 cores for about 20 minutes, and my husband set that up for overclocking, but there was some sort of compatability problem between those 8 cores and something else, so he took those out and I was back to a dual core until very recently.
Imagine:- I once had it really good and then - (imagine sound of energy core powering down) sigh.
I just wanted to test out this PC at the best it can do. (I have liquid cooling now too! Wayhay!)

Great monster Karl.
If it's a hornet mantis cross, does that make it a really bad creature that hates itself? Lol!
Looks a bit unstable, how does it stand with all those needle points? I suppose with wings it doesn't really need to. Brilliant model, well done Karl.

Thread: OT - Holiday | Forum: Bryce
Quote - Mrs Bryster and I spent our honeymoon on the Broads back in 1977. A whole week chugging around in a motor cruiser. We had a wonderful time!!!
That's exactly what we just did!
Pootling! Loved every minute, even the bruises from the uncomfortable seats. and the bruise on my shin from the sudden arrival stern on at the staithe, and the agony in my feeble arms from carrying shopping instead of being able to just pop it into the car boot. I didn't care, first holiday for 10 years, LOVED it!

Thread: OT - Holiday | Forum: Bryce
Quote - First time I experienced the Broads was when I drove my parents there for their holiday. They hired one of those floating huts and it included a small rowing boat that had a little outboard on it. I was absolutely smitten by it, like being in another world, something people won't understand ulness they experience it.
The Bats just make the place all the more amazing! You can lie down on the top of your boat and watch the sun set, and even when it has, you just want to stay put and watch the stars and Bat dances!
Floating huts? I don't think I saw any of those.
I don't think I could get onto the boat's roof, not with my arthritis, but it's okay we have bats here at home too.

Thread: Animation with Transparency? | Forum: Animation
Quote - Did you tell it to render as 32-bit deep, so it can have 8 bits alpha to old the transparency, and did you tell it to use theobject mask (or whatever they call it) to set things apart from the background?
Quicktime needs TrueColor+, not just TrueColor. If you keep it as TrueColor it'll be 24-bit and ignores alpha.
Something like that. I don't know the details for C4d but it's probably similar to rendering from others like Carrara when it comes to the image format and depth.
I tried 32bit, didn't seem to make any difference.
C4D doesn't seem to have 'object mask' unlike Bryce, nor could I find anything like it. It also has no .png option other than the quicktime.png, no idea about TrueColor - plus minus or anything else, couldn't find anything like that.
In the end all I could do was render a single image as .psd, and then get that into PhotoShop and mask off the black invert that - paste and copy the character into a new layer, hide the original layer and then (finally!) save as .png
But that's gonna be hell to do for the whole preceding animation!
There MUST be an easier way?
