If you happen to have an NVidia card, there's a little program that comes with it called "NView". There's a wizard there that helps you set up for dual monitors, AND it takes over remembering where applications should appear (along with a host of other great options). It also let's you set 'profiles' that you can select when only working with one monitor, or with two. Perhaps your video card manufacturer has a similar program. Jack

Thread: Probably a stupid question..but here goes... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Princess, the things that are actually taking up all your space are likely your texture directory and your geometries directory. Plus whatever zip archives you store of the millions of things people like you and I get from freestuff. Now, I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it should be possible to move your geometry and texture directories to a new partition, provided you copy poser's entire directory structure down to those directories, and then, and this is the important part, edit the geometry and texture calls of each of your installed CR2 files. You may be able to put in absolute paths for the various calls to the geometries and textures, as opposed to relative paths that are used now. This would take care of a large bulk of filespace, I think. Perhaps someone else has a better idea. Jack

Awesome, Armorbeast, this may be just what I need to actually post a new render. Looking forward to a couple weeks of uninterrupted play time mid-July, so I'll definitely be getting some pics up around then! Jack

You know, even though this was pretty much an homage to another great artist, I really loved the way this one turned out. I haven't quite been able to capture the feeling of this one since, so I haven't posted any of the ones I've tried to recapture it in. Watch out, there's nudity. The other day I actually went back to the source on this one and started painting clothes - we'll see how it goes. Great thread Dirk. JackThread: Poser Cache?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Oops - yeah, I meant Curious Labs, not Creative Labs. Thanks for the catch EnglishBob. Jack
Thread: Poser Cache?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Also, Creative Labs has a memory patch that helps Poser work better when you have more than 1 Gig of memory (although it might only apply to Poser4 on Win98, not sure). Check out their website for the patch. Jack
Thread: Trying to figure out make Inj and Rem files | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
DAZ sells something called "Injection Magic" that lets you build INJ/REM files. They're having a sale that makes the software currently $19.47USD. Alternatively, if you insure a character has all the morphs injected already, you can use the free MAT pose editor here in freestuff to spin all the dials. But like I said, all the morphs have to already be injected, which doesn't sound like what you are looking for. Finally, I think you can hand edit files to make injection poses, but that's way beyond me. I'll bet there's a tutorial somewhere on it. Jack
Thread: 2 odd problems with V3 - shaded wireframe and bad morphs | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Wow, Doc, thanks - that covers my perceived 'problem' with the display mode. I'm still working on getting the character morph to work correctly - I may have to go back to a blank slate and reinstall poser and everything else. Deleting and reinstalling V3 and the update is just not helping. Thanks again for the info, Doc!! Jack

Thread: *Sigh* Okay, I took the plunge.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hey, has anyone heard anymore about how Geep is doing? There was a thread about a month ago that he'd had a very bad heart-attack, and had a bypass, but unfortunately he doesn't have any health insurance. If anyone can IM me his current status I'd appreciate it.
Thread: figures | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
And if you want to actually have six different Mikes and you are using Poser4, to avoid cross talk when you are loading them from the character library you must use a null figure. Remember though, each different Mike must be saved already and available from your Character library, since after loading them using the null figure you won't be able to morph them. Pose them, yes, but not morph them. I forget right now where to find that null figure, but I'm sure somebody remembers. And I'm sure somebody will also know if I got this explanation wrong! Cheers, Jack

You could try to use HogSoft's Pbooost 1.4, which will allow you to quickly and easily sort and organize your folders - however it may or may not work on your system. Also, there's a utility ('correct reference') that'll look through your files and check to make sure they are looking in the right place for textures. I'm not sure if these utilities are on the renderosity marketplace anymore, but I know for sure you can get them on hogsoft.com. Jack
Thread: How do you do it? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Are you working on this from the standpoint that you want to do the entire texture yourself? What I mean is, I've heard that some texture creators do half of the tex, and then the other half is just a mirror of the work done. This has the benefit of lowering the time needed, but you still obviously want to put in those imperfections that on the mirrored side that differentiate the tex there from the side you originally finished. Also, I assume you are using at least SnowSultan's seam guides - those are a gigantic help in avoiding seam problems. And remember that the artist is always the worst critic of their work - perhaps you could post a pic of a figure with your texture applied so that the forum might help? Later, Jack
