Sure you're right. But not at all. You can't limit Maya or Max for modeling. ; Rhino or Amapi are limited to this. Animation is one of the main goal (with all dynamics implications, and simulation). Vue is, from my point of view, very good to make pictures. But enven if you work in 3 dimensions, renderer does not give the same quality of 3D restitution : it looks like 2d paint, there is not the same depth, the same volumes. In add, you can't professionnaly make animations with vue. I love vue, but I think it is more a paint or cartoon, or art software than a 3D software.

Maya, lightwave or Max are professionnal sofwares. They are more expansive and and very much more powerfull.
