Thread: Whats up with the UV mapping? | Forum: Vue
The ground texture is a default Vue one. At least a Vue5 one. Cant check the name from where I am now but I think it's from the 'terrain' category. One of those looking as a grey stone with a little grass on top.

Seems as the Wings created UV map had some problems. After doing the old trick of opening and then saving again in UV Mapper fixed the problem. Don't know what it was, could be some UV's ouside the 0.0-1.0 range, some apps can handle that and some cant, but it could be something else.

It's just as if it totally ignores the UV and rather project the image on the plant instead.
What's up?

Not all software companies uses 1:1. I bought XSI Foundation a while ago and payed ((Price in $ * Correct currency rate) + shipping + European tax). I'm a happy buyer ;) When it comes to V5I i will get it, but it's just because I allready have V4P so the cost will be acceptable even at 1:1. Had I not had V4P then there would be no chance that I would buy it. Hmmm, European taxes... As allready mentioned her it's not the taxes whe are complaining about, I could even consider to pay more. It's the price before taxes. It's seems to Our American frieds that whe just pays are taxes straight out in the air, the fact is that whe also get money back. Whe have (depending of country) low cost or free, medical care, dental care, child care, school, social security etc... As a comparison, sending the kids to higher school in US might cost as more than a house cost while doing the same in Europe might cost about the same as a small cars. So, no thank you I do prefer my current country over the US. Just say no to Software Pirates!!!! (And that includes I do both kinds of them)
Thread: What do you think anim 1.3 meg | Forum: Vue
For my part I got it from a Magazine quite a while ago. Sorry to say that back issue is sold out. So if you cant find it on a Magazine then you will have to buy it. Latest version is 3.0 costing $399 but there is also a 2.0 SE version witch works for 30 days and cost $99 (Windows and Mac) to buy in case you like it and think it has the features you need. http://www.wondertouch.com/default.asp If you search this forum for Particle Illusion you might find my old posts on it with some examples I did after getting my hands on it.

Not bad :) Did you use Particle Illusion for explosions and fire? If so, I did notice some explosions looked a bit strange as the explosion did continue downwards below where a ground level whould had been expected. If you need explosions and other stuff to not do that there is something in Particle Illusions that I think is called reflectors or deflectors or something. If you place those below the explosion when rendering the particles will bounce when hitting it witch might look more realistic.

In order to get motion blur to work you must have motion.
As you did not mention using Mover I suppose that it not was imported as an animation but rader imported as a posed model and if so there is no motion unless you did something like setting up a keyframe, move the horse and the rider and set a second keyframe, then move the timeline somewere between the keys and do a render with motion blur. It would of course not be a totally correct blur as the legs of the horse not moves in a straight direction between the keyframes but maybe better than nothing.
If you used Mover an actually imported an animation then check that the kind of render you did also renders motionblur. I kant check now but as an example I'm not shure doing a Final render is enough.
I really like the models in the picture except for that I would like to se more structure and dirt on the skeleton and the shield.
What I dont like at all is the lighting, the image is washed out, try to start by turning down or totally turn of ambient light and just add the lights you need. It would move more of the focus from the very basic and uninteresting background towards your main characters.
You could also try using HDRI (unless you allready did, but if so turn down exposure).
Just my 5 cent's based on my own taste.

Thread: Vue 4 as mediocre as Poser | Forum: Vue
Phantast: If so, I would say that Vue has fairly round weels. I find the interface to be one of the better and more easy to learn. (I do however agree on the color choser and to same agree when it comes to not remembering the paths... ;) ) XENOPHONZ: Well for pro below $500 try XSI Foundation at $450 ;)

Well Wabe the comparison to lock your house is not really correct. If compared to a house it would be more like: You bought the house and got your keys, Now you decide to buy a new shower. The company comes and install it but when you try to take a shower the next morning nothing happens. Looking more closely at the shower you see a small hole surrounded by the text 'In order to activate the shower you will need a key and it should arrive in a couple of work days'. Or After living in your house a while you realise that you don't like the placement of the house. You would really had prefered if it was placed closer to the garage so you decide to hire a big crane in order to move your hose. Everything went smooth untill the point where you try to enter your house. Now, just because you moved your house a little your keys no longer works on your door......and worse is, the company that sold you the house was bought by Abdulla Oil, witch the US goverment suspected to also creat weapons of mass destructions, so they sent a tactical nuke (a weapon of not so massive destruction) just in case. So sorry, you will never be abla to move into that house again... Well, jokes aside. Zbrush and XFrog works the same way. When I bought Zbrush and found out about the license system I returned the product (I even made some money on the difference in exchangerates between the buy and the return). As Xfrog was a lot cheaper I decided to keep it anyway. The point is that I would never buy anything expensive if I don't get a liftime key with it.

I'm living in Sweden and bought XSI from Softimage a while ago.
Payed the price in $ using the correct exchangerate + Swedish VAT/Custom + Shipping.
Now, that's a fair company that treats all customers equal!!!

Thread: Using movie sequences as textures is possible in 3 4 (5?) (Particles too) | Forum: Vue
Atually I find it rather patetic that movie files .avi .mpg etc not is supported. If there at least were support for Image sequences(I made a try using Phython but I found the Phyton support to be more or less a joke). I really hope this is taken care of in Vue 5 Infinite but if you know a way of doing it I would for sure like to see a tutorial.

Thread: Vue 5 Pro is here | Forum: Vue
Loads of confusion...
How could those people att E-On even come up with the idea to name the package Pro when they allready used that name for the top of the line version. A more correct name would be Vue 5 Bundle or Vue 5 Compleate or more or less anything else than PRO....
I'll be waiting for Infinite.... The upgrade cost from Vue 4 Pro to Infinite looks really sweet. ;)
