Thread: Where are my files | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hey Jasonh04, did your the files come as a zip or as a Daz installer. If they are in zip from use your zip program to open the zip. If you browse into the folders in the zip (using your zip program as a viewer) you should be able to see the path used to install the mat pose files and textures. My guess is that they will be in the pose folder of the runtime you unzipped them to. If they came as a Daz installer it's not as easy to figure but again look in you pose folder as a start.

If your Mac is Intel based have a look at MeshLab. Not strictly a viewer but it will handle obj and 3ds.

Thread: How to...??? Change a A3 skin texture to use it on a V3 & V4 character | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Considering the Mac forte is graphics ya it is a little puzzling..... but then I'm still on Windoze.
Have you heard of Virtual Box. It's a free virtual machine package by Sun. Lets you set up any OS which can then be used as a desktop app. from within your main OS. I have it and have used it on my XP machine to try out things without the need to add drives or partition drives. Might be worth a look.
Thread: Monthly reminder - you need to gamma correct your renders | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
@ DPH, You mention in your "Who do I have to bribe..." thread that you use a set of 4 lights on average. What intensity are those lights set to?
Have a look at this image:www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php
There is no post work done on this image. I save as .TIF out of Poser and use GIMP to save as sized JPG for uploading. There are 3 lights in this scene, 1 IBL @ 25% w/AO, 1 point @10% and another point @40%.
With Gamma Correction fewer lights at lower intensity are needed to produce a well lite scene. And changing the lights does what you expect it to, the scene can be made to look more natural more easily. The less time I spend trying to correct (after the fact) an image the more time I can spend on the layout/creation of the image. By the way that image would not be half as realistic without all the tips and techniques bagginsbill has put out on the forums over the last couple of years. Thanks BB.

Just did a quick check, TC2 not for Mac. So much for that idea. As for using A3 on V3 the texture maps are the same but A3 has two material zones for the legs where V3 only has one. This means that if you try to apply a mat pose from A3 to V3 the legs will not have the texture applied. Just go to the material room, copy the Image Map node from SkinTorso to SkinLeg and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.

I've been using Texture Convertor 2 avialable over at Daz. Does a very nice job. Huge time savings over manually trying to refit a texture.

@ TrekkieGrrrl and DPH , Gamma Correction thread is here:www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php
Work in P6 and P7, not sure about P5. The Skin shader bagginsbill has created (using his VSS prop) has this GC built in. Works great for skin textures.
Example here:

Qasar, I am also a VSS fan(antic). Start of 57 page thread is www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php
The prop and a nice condensed version of operating instructions are found at:
poserbagginsbill.googlepages.com/vsshomepage
The latest Skin Shader material can be found here:
sites.google.com/site/bagginsbill/free-stuff/random-shaders
Also, key to realism is Gamma Correction. If you're using Poser Pro, you have this feature
The Skin Shader discussed above includes a material based version which should work in P6 and P7. Not sure about P5, may not have some of the required Nodes?

Thanks odf, yeah I have a soft spot for certain Unimesh morphs (Blackhearted's stuff in particular). Couldn't resist using SP3. I have a hard drive full of Rosity V4 characters (bit of a pack rat that way). Time to put some to work ;)
BTW love your tagline, I just re-watched that episode...

I always try to get something working in the face but this one just didn't want to click for me. Next couple of images will be with V4. I hate her shoulders so finding a pose and working the hair is a real pain. Thanks again BB for all your work.

Just posted an effort at "realism" based on several suggestions and techniques by bagginsbill. I think that realism in the skin shader (in Poser Pro) is getting very close. The image is pure Poser Pro, no postwork. That said I'm not completely happy with the shadows in some areas and hair is an area that always takes away from the realism. The figure in the image SP3 so the mesh has some issues but I like how the skin shader came out in this. After reading some of the posts on light based AO I thought I would try it in this image. Used BB's IBL image from up thread, also using BB's Envriosphere with a sky panorama. Miss Nancy has a point on the network of support. Most of the images (I hesitate to use the word art because, to me at least, what constitutes art is highly subjective) that receive gonzo comments and ratings come from established members with a fan base. How do you build a fan base? A lot of time spent commenting on other peoples work is probably a key element.
Personally I create my images as a hobby. Recognition is nice (why else would we post our work) but I personally like the challenge of pushing Poser to produce "realistic" renders. Are photo realistic images art? That depends on what the person viewing considers art. I've had a look at both of the images above. Commented on both. It's obvious that you spend a lot of time on the remapping of your figures. I don't think alot of people understand the work involved. They see the result you produce but can't comprehend the effort required to produce something with so much custom work. I assume that this is a hobby for you as well, so if you're doing it because you love it and you like pushing your skills at working with the older characters, keep doing what you're doing. If you're looking for recognition, well that's a tougher egg to crack.

gishzida, it sounds like you may be doubling up on the Gamma Correction. If your Poser Pro Gamma is on, then in VSS you need to turn the gamma in the Template Skin to 1.0. If you're using the Version 3 of the skin shader (If you're not you should get it) PM:Gamma is near the top of the settings that open up when you open VSS Template skin in the material room.
