i wish they would improve the rendering speeds, especially regarding object AA. Love the way my stuff looks when i crank the Object AA quality to 100% but man does it kill my render times.
Thread: Intel Mac Problem files and solution | Forum: Vue
No problem, just thought I would post that in different Vue forums in case anyone else ran across it. It sure left me panicked and scratching my head until John came up with that solution.
Thread: Large render question | Forum: Vue
Thanks for the info wabe. Kind of what I was thinking since I didn't see any difference in render times between the two. Wish I could afford the renderfarm option but I think it would be way too expensive from what I calculated.
Thread: There is a new update available for V6I #291551 | Forum: Vue
Actually, e-on just responded and there is indeed a bug in Vue with cross platform but there is also an easy fix. I am going to start a new thread so I dont hijack this one since its off topic of the original post.
Thread: There is a new update available for V6I #291551 | Forum: Vue
Update: I just posted this to e-on tech support to see what they say. I have identical versions of V6I on my Intel Mac Pro 8-core and a Dual 1.42GHz Mac G4. V6I on the Intel mac will not open 90% of the scenes I had built in V5I but on the G4 V6I will open them. Same exact versions of V6I on both machines running the same versions of Mac OS. I am having all sort of problems with V6I on the Mac Pro machine that I am not having on the G4. Dont know if its a Vue bug or just weird bad luck on my part.

I am wondering the same thing with V6I on Intel mac. I have a Mac Pro 8 Core with 4GB RAM and have had all sorts of different problems with different Vue files. I have been sending reports to e-on but I wonder if there is something on the Intel Macs that Vue doesnt like. I still cant open scenes I worked on in V5I in V6I. Even though they are perfectly fine files it just states it cannot open them. Weird stuff going on.

30" wide screen Apple display. Just bought it a month ago and I cant believe the difference it makes working on scenes. I dont spend so much time scrolling around now :-) LCD is the way to go. Less power consumption, less heat, less eye strain (for me anyway), and they are getting better and cheaper.

That might be a good idea keenart on using a resampling plug in. Do you know how Genuine Fractals compares to Alien Skin Blow-up?

thfixer: yeah I wish I could try a renderfarm but I cant afford to yet until I generate some income off of some of these early renders. bruno021: thanks for the info, was curious about that. Ok here's one for you guys. Keep in mind I am dead tired and this probably wont make any sense. What if I have an image I want to render at the above mentioned 7500 x 5000 size and its going to take weeks to render. What about rendering small chunks of it at a time with something like the selective area render option and saving all of those smaller renders then piecing them together in something like Photoshop? Would my accumulative render time of all of those small renders equal up to the same as just doing the full size render? I hate to whine about render times but I am in a time crunch. Normally if it would take weeks I would let it go and render but I cant do that this time.
Thread: Mac Rendercow problem and others | Forum: Vue
estherau I am shocked, those are waaaaay to harsh for me to say! LOL I think I would make a sailor blush with as much as I have been screaming at my monitor. Bet the neighbors loved hearing me at 4am in the morning yelling at Vue. At least "Vue" doesnt sound like someones name so they dont think I am abusing my wife or a kid or something like that. I hope e-on doesnt change the name to something like "Bob". Bob 6 Infinite Version 6.05 Build 2903848384.1 At least I am getting some stuff rendered large but its the simpiliar scenes I am doing now. I dont know whats going to happen when I try my more complicated Vue scenes. I'll have to invent my own language by then! At least you guys here in the forums and tech support at e-on has made this a lot better for me!
Thread: Mac Rendercow problem and others | Forum: Vue
Thanks for all of the help and tips everyone. I think I have invented more new profanities lately trying to get some stuff rendered than ever before :-) Maybe when the new update comes out it will fix a lot of these problems.

I posted this at Cornucopia but thought I would here as well. Hey Wabe, Thanks for the reply and I did see your other post over at Rendo which I will copy my reply here over there for others as well. What you said makes sense and I did get a response back from John at e-on saying the same thing. "If the non loading files are related to a single scene, maybe something got corrupted at some point. If the corrupted scene was then saved several times, bak files get corrupted too as they correspond to the version just before the latest save operation." Also, I wrote about the rendercow problems and maybe relating to my other problem of files going bad. On updating one of the rendercows Vue said that the updater was corrupted even though one of the other cows updated fine. So I am thinking I had a bad install of V6I on the Mac Pro and it corrupted everything, my scenes and rendercows. Because after I applied the last update to V6I I also had renders that I was rendering in Vue alone hang or freeze. Just too much weird stuff going on at once. So I reinstalled V6I and updated to before the last update since the latest one screwed with my render times somewhat. I'll just wait for another update from e-on before I even try the rendercows. As to that, here is also what John at e-on wrote in case any one is interested: "Hi Randy, We have indeed fixed a major slow down issue regarding polygonal objects due to a recent multithreading crash fix. We are currently rebuilding a new update so this should be sorted out shortly. There was also a recent fix on rendercows autoupdate I think, so upcoming update should sort things out as well." Sounds like good news to me! Thanks again wabe for responding and giving me some things to look into. Best wishes, Randy

Your render finished? Did you notice a significant difference in render times using the rendercows? I was just wondering if my G4 would help that much or not. I wonder why mine is different than yours. Maybe I have something conflicting.
Thread: Mac Rendercow problem and others | Forum: Vue
Thanks for the update wabe. I couldn't get the rendercow problem to work on the previous update either though. The G4 wouldn't crash but the MacPro still rendered way to fast and I'd end up with nothing rendered. Weird problems going on.
