Thread: Michael 2 has Little Hands | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Andrew, Sadly no, I didn't save a thing. But I just quickly loaded up myMichael2. That's a saved figure of mine which is Michael2 with the propagating scale fix. Adjusted as follows: Left Hand Scale: 120% Left Forearm Taper: -9% Saved to the figures library as myMichael2_BigHand. Started fresh with a new document. Loaded myMichael2_BigHand. And he still had the big hand with the above settings. Have fun, Jeff

Apparently lights in P5 don't reflect off surfaces at all. Scroll to the bottom of the link. The shadows do soften though with more than one element. Seems more like a bug/feature than some elaborate lighting model.Jeff

Geo,
I noticed softer shadows in the P5 rendering of a cylinder primitive, by simply adding another cylinder and moving toward and just off camera. I didn't change any material nodes.
Can you please explain this:
"Set the node to white black black white like normal. Then set it to reflect."
or post a picture of your "reflector" material node? I'm also looking forward to trying this.
Jeff

The cast shadows check box is not only on the light properties, but also on the body part properties, like the head, and on the render settings. The draft firefly mode's render settings do not have cast shadows checked by default to save time. Try checking cast shadows in Render/Render Options.../Render Settings to turn off the light in the mouth. Jeff

I think it's the InnerMouth geometry poking through the skin when you check Smooth Polygons using the Firefly renderer.
Try unchecking Smooth Polygons to be sure.

Whether Poser recognizes a light as an infinite light or a spotlight doesn't seem to depend on the Internal Name of the light, but rather a parameter called lightType. The lightType value does change as you convert a light from spot to infinite using the gui. The name doesn't change probably because it's internal (not visible to the user via the gui) and it didn't used to matter what the name was to the renderer. Now in SR4 it matters! Not whether it's a spot or infinite light, but whether it renders depth map shadows.
