Quote - Is the cost difference really such a big deal? We're not talking thousands of dollars here. I see a lot of Poser users crying about how much the various DAZ plugins cost, but how much do those same people blow on content month after month?
Having to buy extra plugins means, for some, less money to spend on content. How many pairs of knickers can you get for Vicky if you didn't have to spend $50 on a plugin for DS that has a free equivalent in Poser?

I thought with 0.8 it could already use the GPU? did I read it wrong?

Quick word of warning & a feature request....
Warning first, DO NOT use "Hybrid SSPM" on the export tab unless you know for sure you have a machine that can handle it, mine can't & I had the "pleasure" of watching my entire system grinding to a halt within seconds of running Luxrender with that option.
feature request...
Can we have some sort of error trap for those times when someone tries to run the script with no lights in the scene, I get the error message...
"Traceback (most recent call last):
File "L:Poser developmentPloppose2lux.py", line 5464, in ?
File "L:Poser developmentPloppose2lux.py", line 5106, in init
File "L:Poser developmentPloppose2lux.py", line 5252, in LoadSettings
AttributeError: pageLights instance has no attribute 'varFlipHDRI'"
& then I have to restart Poser.

Not trying to make this thread any more biased but don't you have to buy the Daz SDK to write scripts for Studio?

Thread: Best way to setup runtimes in Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I split my runtimes by character but I also only install what I'm pretty sure I'm going to use, 300 pairs of knickers for V4 is a waste of hard drive space so I limit it to 299.

Thread: What computer specs make Poser run best? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm running Windows 7 X64 & Poser Pro 2010 on an Intel dual core with 2Gb of Ram, Poser can get a little slow if I add too many V4s in but it works.

Get in touch with Sixus1 over on RuntimeDNA, he likes doing monsters of all sorts.
He's recently done a whole slew of Lovecraft inspired creepies so Harryhausen would be right up his alley. :D

It won't install on my machine, I'll probably have to do a full re-install of Windows.

Is there any chance of having the script load xml files when you start it? I know I'm lazy. ;)

UI layout
Render engines (firefly, 3Delight)
Content file format (cr2, ds2?)
Internal scripting language (python for poser, not sure what DS has)
Library system
DS has the bridge that connects directly to Bryce7, Poser has the Vue exporter. Both work in similar ways.
Even with all the differences they are more similar than it first appears.

Do you mind if I use that render for the user guide?
Only if you think it's good enough. ;)

Politicians shouldn't be allowed to take part in politics, they really don't have a clue what they're doing most of the time. I'd suggest Diane sticks to what she's good at.
