Wolf: Fortunately you can downsize textures if that's an issue. I did get some utilities that also optimizes the scene before you render.
To the OP, was your review based solely on animation? If that the case then I guess you wouldn't need complex scenes.. however, the samples you provided were very simplistiic with just an HDRI. Where are your lights? What's the setup? Anyone can run a simple scene through and say "Hey this is faster", but that's not how people put scenes together and the majority of people that would use the tool. I've heard that rendering may be faster but that time is eaten up setting up materials and lights. It's not a one-click process unless you're just putting together plain scenes like you presented so far. So I really consider your review flawed, especially being a former user of Octane.
I was an early adopter of the DAZ studio plug in for Octane and it was so unstable and buggy, I never got my money out of it. It's also not as integrated as other tools. Then Iray came out and I switched that full time as I consider the octane purchase money flushed down the toilet. There's something to be said about integration, ease of use and support (both software and content). The octane plugin may be more improved since the version I paid for, but won't pay for another version as I already have a tool that works for me and I know the tricks to put out complicated scenes from 8-30 minutes, depending on the light setup I use. And those scenes use FULL scenes with light setups, not props set against the default DAZ HDRI.
In short I kept the review simple to test the waters for beginners. More advanced users will be able to test and decide for themselves what they like.
That said, the animations and still images I am producing in octane are delightful. I have a background in photography and really enjoy the power of outdoor lighting. Ive tried adding images here to show some of the Octane renders that are more complex, however Renderosity doesn't seem to want to let me.
And that's kind of the point I made; this can't be a reliable review when you've done the least amount of work and expect people to pay for the plug-in to do the real work. Even the video you provided was ok, but looked like it had a low frame rate and it was pixelated around the lights but still took five hours to run. A render is not fast if it wasn't completed.

Thread: Do Poser and/or DAZ Studio Import DAEs Yet? | Forum: The Break Room
I would check the EULA on those figures you're trying to import into Second Life. I know it's a violation of DAZ's to import any of their content into that program.

Thanks for that background information. I'm always hoping that a Daz content creator will get PO'd and go public with what happens in the background with internal politics and policy.
That's easy... contrary to the opinions of some. DAZ is almost never the villain. They stay in business because they handle their business like a business and they sell what people want. Because they're a broker, they end up dealing with some vendors that don't share that philosophy. You will have no issue with that when you look it that way and keep your dealings honest with them. I've been with them for 10 years and never had an issue, and i've heard and seen lots of things the forumites rail on about... and most of that has never been DAZ's fault and they won't comment or be petty about it because they have a business to run.
Hope that answers your question.

YOU might not do post work but that doesn't means others don't. There was a bit of controversy in Daz not long ago because a vendor added REAL photos of REAL people to their promo render. Daz had nothing to say about it and eventually locked the thread when it got heated. There are only a few vendors I trust anymore to be straightforward.
It wasn't real people, it was 3D scans rather than the one of the genesis characters. Still the renders weren't postworked, however the program used to render the promos came into question. That PA is no longer in store, as they were removed when they refused to re-render the promos... not to mention the PA got mad and decided to leak a pre-release product on file sharing networks under creating a fake account using one of the DAZ executive's names. And no we aren't allowed to postwork promos either at DAZ. So that PA isn't really a good example. DAZ never publicly mentions this stuff, especially when ex-PAs end up getting messy like what happened... they'll just lock the thread and handle it behind the scenes.
Thread: Just saw the announcement at HW | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think its about time that they did it. They have their own figures to sell and promote as that keeps their business up and the forums running. I wouldn't be surprised if they modify their forum rules to discourage talking about competing figures. It's been rather outrageous to see people start threads about new poser figures and singing their praises on a site that makes their own figures or ask people if they're going to make stuff for other figures. They may want everyone to have free discussions but people can be respectful to the site owners while doing it. I also wouldn't be surprised that these discussions threads didn't spur the change in what is being sold in the store, much less get them to work on the 2.0 version of their figures.
Thread: Grainy renders with Iray | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Why was this thread necro'd from 2016? It's 2019 and a lot of what's talked about is outdated to have any discussion about it.. especially since DS has the denoiser in the beta (not sure if it's in the official version yet)
Also the solution to grainy renders is to properly light the scene, which everyone was learning how to do back in 2016 versus what they've been used to doing in biased renderers like 3Delight.

DAZ has "disappeared" TC2, by the way.
No, the 3DUniverse pulled it from sale. There was a thread where they said they no longer wish to support the product. Let's not spread misinformation.
However, you can use DAZ Studio's Map Transfer tool to convert M4 skins to V4 if you have the clones that has the UV (Genesis 1 can convert without clones, so your only cost is downloading DS instead of buying TC2). Also you can convert G2 skins to V4 using the same tool.

Or are you suggesting your comment was on topic and just some constructive criticism based on MM statements above? It also seems strange that you're targeting MM when really the only issue that I can see in the thread seems to be the slightly trollish comment of "That's DAZ for you."?
But who is todd? Besides, I've had the ignore button active for some time now so people are violating the TOS without me noticing ?
Thread: Why does Recording Studio for Daz require hardcoded directories? | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
I wouldn't think this is an issue with the product since you are the one modifying the arrangements of the product, thus breaking it. You wouldn't get support on things rearranged to your liking. You could try loading the product then saving the scene file to where you want it or create alias in smart content to organize your products.

That's not DAZ for you, as a mod at another site you should know better to make these types of comments. A vendor can have any item removed from a store at any time for any reason as the product belongs to them, not DAZ. Since Esha is a current PA you could ask, however if she partnered with another person for that product and that PA was culled or requested it removed, she may not be able to give you the product without the permission of the other person.
Ohhhh, I see, so Esha asked DAZ to remove the original product for lack of sales, but didn't ask DAZ to remove the add-on product as well? Odd that, since they finally removed it only after RAGraphicDesign asked about it. Hmmmm, I wonder if Esha had any say in that decision, or do you think the add-on was still having good sales even though the original product it was made for was no longer available in the store?
I can certainly understand a vendor deciding to drop something from their store, either for lack of sales, or it's old and may not reflect the quality of their current products, but I often find I'm wondering why something that looks good is no longer available. It especially annoys me here in the Marketplace, when I find it still in the store, but the "Purchase" button now reads "Unavailable". If you're going to remove a product, for one reason or another, remove it totally.
There could be any number of reasons for a item to be removed, and if an item was missed, then it appears to rectified. But we're all grown up enough not to speculate without the proper information handy and always blame DAZ. Esha is PA in good standing with regular releases, so this was probably a requested cull of the original item and this addon was missed. Culling individual items by sales would be a massive amount of work to constantly do; there is criteria in place for underperforming/inactive PAs though. Although some may visit stores that really don't have content enough to cull, larger stores like Rendo and DAZ have different ways of handling removed items and sometimes things are missed as every one is human and mistakes will happen when you manage a lot of items and addons.

Also a PA/vendor may feel that those old products are not reflective of the quality of their current work and remove them from the marketplace. PAs, especially those of us that have been doing it for years, have done as well.

That's DAZ for you. Have you tried getting in touch with Esha to see if you can purchase the products directly from her? Some long time vendors do that.

I received an interesting e-mail the other day that made it clear the content creator wasn't going to make material for "you dirty fags"... so I guess I also have to assume that the insistence against male/male material is also being driven by homophobia... Sad, because I guess I had assumed that Renderosity was beyond that point. It seems I was wrong!
Name names or PM me with the vendors name, because wow, I don't want to line the coiffers of someone who is that homophobic
Honestly, I would take it with a grain of salt. I don't really think it happened like that or those words were actually used. Besides I would go back an look at the actual topic of this thread and see that it's been hijacked.

I’m just saying ?. I mean I may look at something and call it the Mona Lisa, and someone may think it’s the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. That’s just may be how some may view it and you’re not going to change their minds no matter how mad you get ??♂️
