Well, good indications from you Misha... The single lens that I use to love was a 105mm, but I really don't remember its characteristics [I do remember that I used it along with a german "Rollei" camera - around 30-40 years old]... I don't like zoom lens, 'cause I've seen some differences in sharpness between zoom & normal lens; it is indeed very difficult to carry a lot of lens with you (and, obviously expensive to buy) when you could use some zoom lens for many different reasons!

love this one - originality on the last hundred metters...:) although I remember that horror movie called "Dreamcathcer", I have to admit that your idea is very original, as usual. :)
Thread: !!!! FEB CHALLENGE VOTING !!!! | Forum: Photography
Agree with 'chelle: not too many rules when it comes of...fun...
I guess I'll give my vote to "Opposites" - I already have a stupid idea running through my neuron...:-P...don't know if I'll make it, though...
Final word..."Opposites"! :) P.S. And by the way - 8-10 should be more than enough themes!

["hard enough getting people to post the correct thumbsize :]" - good one, Cyn :))]
Well, I have to agree with you, too, when you say that "they only hurt themselves by not challenging themselves"...
I tend to think that <"the ignorance is bliss" rule> is apllied here - at least for some of members...As I already said, I didn't observe that rule before - hmm! could I blame my 12/24 shift at work and my program at university? Don't know - but I certainly was not "too much there" when read the rules before...:) Ehh, forgive me...
On the other hand, some of our members aplly their own rules around here, pretty often...I've realised a little (more) tendency for letting them slide; well, I'm a little hard with people (as you, cyn, know already) and I do not allow breaking the rules...Yeah, I know: rendo is the biggest site I know in the art area and is damn hard to be heard by everybody...
Don't want to argue or playing around too much with this subject, but I see that a lot of people forget how to dream a little...and to have fun a little...more...
Cheers, Mihai.

to quote you, Misha: "we continually need to challenge our vision"...that's what I think, too...although I do participate very rarely at our monthly challenge because of "no time hands"... My prefered challenge was the one called "no postwork"... Have a nice week ahead!
Thread: Morning with Starbuck's & Hopper- Nov Challenge :] | Forum: Photography
Hello, Cyn! That "first thing's first in the morning" could be as well a walk outside for 5 minutes - sub zero temperatures (that are already here! brrrr!!!) could wake you up faster than you believe! Anyway, a strong irish coffe or a cup of gray tea are always a blessing!... but I prefer a little walk..Mihai P.S. The last one has really something dreamy in it...
Thread: November Challenge..... What Mornings Mean..... #1 | Forum: Photography
Hello, Michelle! I'm not crazy about the first one; the other two are incredible and there is such a HARD contrast between the feelings when one sees both of the images....the first one, with that warm light, could easily take your soul in a sweet floating around our sweetest dreams; the other one brings so many mixed fellings inside and one just wants to go & hide where no paper is written, where's no television, where the soul is beyond the hardest news that are in our life everyday and strikes and poisons, little by little, every little inch of our thoughts... [I enjoy reading the newspapers, but at least I read culture magazines; the news I usually see on the internet] Bravo Michelle! Mihai

Nice definition of this community, Cyn...Obviously when time is enough one can make decent comments, but when you're running out of time you reduce your comments and say only few words... M. Moraitis has a point about that "too many" comments but this is another discussion! Mihai A kingdom for your thoughts...

I probably agree with the most part of the comments, mostly agree with Synapse,logiloglu,Kropot... and since I was involved in this kind of discussion - a thread posted in forum on 9/12/04 18:19 - with a work of mine (http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=761928&Start=19&Artist=Mikan&ByArtist=Yes) I have to say that... *Photo manipulations - belongs to photography gallery, as Photoshop is the dark-room of the 21th century; *Images containing 2D elements & 3D elements - as long as we still talk about the photos and not about the frames (that can be easily interpretated as 2D or 3D elements - check the link above to see the subject of my thread!), that kind of works should be posted in 2D gallery or Mixed Medium; *Photographs that have been heavily changed - I use to postwork a lot some of my images but I post many of my original photos without a single touch of postwork; I do not mind if a new gallery would be placed here and named - Original Photos; the other one should be Manipulated Photos; *Stock photography - ABSOLUTELY NOT, ABSOLUTELY NOT!(should be posted in 2D gallery!) I've seen some posts with photos copied from another sites or smth like that, but this kind of works were never been moved to another galleries; I know, I know - it's impossible to control everything on the site, the photo gallery being so BIG and it's impossible for the moderators to see all the uploads...I've became kinda sick seeing pictures with some movie-stars/celebrities (with a little postwork) posted in photo gallery... BUT, of course, we could use OUR OWN STOCK photographies, as we are the owner of them! :) *And I agree with the point of view of zhounder (about historical photos) saying few lines ahead that "Family memories (...) should be left to the forum. There they can be shared and discussed. The gallery is more for our achievements and our milestones." Respectfully, Mihai. A kingdom for your thoughts...

Yeah, I can see that!!! And is really a great idea and easier to surf into someone's gallery! Thanks!:)
Thread: What do you think about my compo on this??? Crop or no? | Forum: Photography
Well, I rarely like centered pictures - and centered I mean in case they are symetrical(fractals are a very good example!) - otherwise not so many subjects could be posted in the middle of the viewer...I like your subject exactly how is done, although I see is a a little blurry...If you try to crop the subject and keep a centered picture you'll have no tension at all and what's the charm of a great pic if there's no tension in it? I have a similar photo in my gallery and please copy/paste the next link and think about how bad would looked if it was centered... http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=680394&Start=37&Artist=Mikan&ByArtist=Yes Friendly, Mihai.

Thread: To Crop or Not to Crop | Forum: Photography
[a pretty god subject here!] Well, I usually obtain images with my old camera(not digital)without croping because I take my time and I need a lot of time (sometimes too much :))to shot my pictures - my friends say that I'm too damn calm as if I'm not ever goin' to die...:) With a digital is even easier - if I do not like the shot I delete it in the very next second; another one! Two moths ago, I've started to shot some macro pics with my old camera and to be honest I was very dissapointed when I've seen the result - only a few (4-5) from 15 shots turned out well and I'm pretty sure that I would've liked -in this case - to shot a greater area in order to crop my subject... The resize ratios don't necesarilly tell us about croping or not - I sometimes like to change aspect ratio without croping, for some reasons! When I crop a pic I usually keep the original ratio - that's for sure... Maybe some persons from the "old school" could say that if we crop the images we are not so good after all, but I'm pretty sure that sometimes croping is needed - simple and that...Why losing a beauty if is there, when you obviously could cut some unimportan details and obtain a greater result? So...To Crop or not To Crop... To Crop...Why not? :)
