Thread: Has RPF stopped working...? | Forum: Vue
Thread: Vue integration with Lightwave | Forum: Vue
I'll be looking into the whole [8]/synchro thing this week and the next. It's a bit annoying that I can't get the RPF export to work properly - perhaps the new beta update will fix it; I'll know for sure later..

T'is. I've tried exporting scenes to LW, compositing scenes (w/Combustion) and intermixing with XFrog trees. I've noticed a few things..
The z-values are differently scaled, i.e. the scale in the z-buffer needs to be manipulated (quite a lot) to match LW's.
Exporting scenes usually works nicely, trees should be avoided unless necessary, but exported terrains look nice in LW.
The synchro plugin that comes with Vue Pro works with cameras and lights. Although I've found it somewhat flaky, it does the job.
I was going to experiment further this week, but the RPF export is acting up...and so is the RLA, it seems. Bleh.

I use Lightwave - not cheap, but it can do just about anything imaginable. Wings is respected by Lightwavers and hard to beat at the price..
By the way, Randy, I think you beat the record for reference images - very nice indeed!
Unfortunately, I won't get around to modelling the plow until friday; I'm bogged down in work at the moment (damn Java servers!). Guess which thing I'd rather do..? :(

The curvature of the blade may also be tricky to reproduce - it doesn't look planar. HellBorn, you're swedish, right (I'm danish)? Which modeler do you intend to use? I wonder how the scandinavian versions looked - I'm tempted to find an agricultural museum. Imagine a collection of old farming tools...hmm.

I use Lightwave and might try modelling your plough/plow, just to get some experience - it always helps when you have a specific goal, if you know what I mean. Sandbox tuts are good and all, but there's nothing like the real thing, IMHO.
Post more reference images and I'll give it a go, just for the heck of it...you might even get a few to pick from if HellBorn and others do the same.. :)
Thread: Vue 4 Pro WILL NOT STOP CRASHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | Forum: Vue
Try renaming Vue4Pro.eon to Vue4Pro2.exe (or something similar) and run that instead. Supposedly, it provides more information regarding the error, at least in some circumstances.
I actually had similar problems some months ago (drove me nuts), but discovered that I had a faulty memory circuit...well, rather the machine had. Try a memory tester, just to make sure.

Hmm....I'm not a Mac user, but do you have any other programs that can create animation files, such as Premiere? And if so, do they work fine or...?

John has a point; I think Vue defaults to this error message when it can't think of anything better. I get this error if I choose some of the more obscure codecs in my system. Which codec are you using??

Have you tried inverting the normals? Or removing the inner polygon(s) in the glass? Looks like the polygons are battling for the same spot on the Y axis.

Have you noticed any weird behaviour in other applications? If so, you may have a bad memory block. It happened to me a few months ago - seemingly random crashes drove me up the wall with frustration! I tried running memtest and voil- bad DIMM. I now do it almost regularly - unfortunately it doesn't help me with Vue Pros lockups, but that's another story..Thread: Vue Technique problem | Forum: Vue
