Just an update :)

I was out of town last weekend so I shut my computer completely down. Since firing up Poser for the first time again on Monday, it has been working perfectly all week. No hang ups. No freezing. I haven't changed a thing since the last time it froze up on me (which was after installing SR3 so it wasn't just that it needed upgrading and the SR had just come out anyway).

The weird thing is, I had shut down my desktop completely when this issue started, not just rebooted. So I have no idea what's changed or why it's suddenly working.

It's not an openGL problem. I already was using Sree and reduced my undos to 7. In fact, that was Smith Micro's first suggestion. But, as I said, I was already doing that.

Poser hasn't crashed once since rolling back the driver but, we shall see. I've never had a problem with P7 until this started up, outside of the issues with V4 but that was solved by turning off external morph binaries.

Well, the issues with the older version seem to be the lesser of two evils and my poser seems to be working like it should thus far. I'm going to keep an eye on it and see what happens. My card is the Nvidia GeForce 7300GS.

Well, none of this fixed my problem. I deleted my preferences. I went to defrag my hard drive but it didn't need it (I do it at least twice a month anyway). I cleaned up old registry entries (the program I used showed me what they were and I knew what programs they used to be attached to). I even rebooted after all that.

No go. When I opened poser for the first time (after a reboot this time, mind), I needed to reset my preferred state. When I went to delete Simon, it froze up again on the confirmation. I just read another thread with someone else having the exact same problem. What in the world is going on with Poser?

This is happening to me too. Same things. Freezing when conforming clothing or ANYTHING that requires you to answer a dialogue box (cancel/ok). Like Taryn, a clean reboot helps it temporarily but it starts up again.

I've defragged my hard drive, cleaned up old files, deleted my poser preferences. Rebooted my computer. When I opened poser back up even after rebooting my computer this time and went to reset my preferred state (by getting rid of Simon), it froze up again when I had to confirm the deletion.

Also, I am running on Windows XP. It ran beautifully until last week. That's when all this started.

Now that I know I'm not the only person having this problem, I'd really like to know what the heck is going on.

The dialogue box is not hidden. You can't even click on it. Clicking the buttons doesn't do anything but show you how frozen up the program is. Also, minimizing poser makes ZERO difference. All it does is sit there and I am betting that the OP has the same experience.

I've only ever had Poser 7 on this particular machine and have never uninstalled/reinstalled it. I may try a full uninstall and reinstall but I am betting money it won't fix my problem.

Thanks for the link. It's not just happening with V4 sadly. I tested it with a new V4 and it still crashed even after applying the changes :(  A friend suggested I update my video drivers so I'm trying that. Poser 7 in particular may have some issues because of Open GL. It just so happens NVIDIA updated the drivers for my video card today.

Thanks guys!  I've been able to fake DoF reasonably well in PsP but not knowing HOW to do it in Vue was bugging the snot out of me.  I'm sure you guys understand.

Except for the bright lights weren't her only problem with importing the Pz3.  The lights were 'locked' (which never happened to me in P6) AND the scene renders oddly now.  So the same but NOT the same as the problem in Poser 6.
