sigh Don't you just hate it when people post a great picture and say they think it's naff?!? grrrr.... lol I like this as it is - did you deliberately place the flash to the side of her umbrella as if she was actually using it as a parasol? That little touch really makes the image, imo.. (",)

I used to work for a mobile phone company, in the call centre. This was just a few years back, around the time the govt. was pushing for safety about using phones while driving, but before it became illegal. Our 'unofficial but approved' stance was to ask users that were calling while driving if they would prefer to call back at a more convenient time. I was monitoring a call one day when our girl did exactly that. The guy said it was no problem, he always used the phone in the car..... about a minute into the call he suddenly shouts "aaaawwww, sh*t!!!" and there was an almighty bang.... yup, he'd smacked into the back of another car...... lesson learned.... Oh, bugger. Bad news is, Judging by my experiments with the camera I don't stand a cat in hells chance of any decent shots. By switching lights off in the office and blocking windows, then rolling cars across the floor we simulated it and it didn't go well. The Good news is that today a couple of the guys asked if anyone was taking a camcorder.... and I've decided to splash out and spend the company's money on one of those new DVD ones. I'm gonna buy it off the company, with a reduction for using it for training vids ;-) he he he.... damn shame they don't need an SLR... *sigh* Anyways, we're gonna knock up DVD's of the event and sell them to the guys at a nominal price, thus starting a trend for all future company events. Gimme 2-3 years, it'll have paid for itself..... ah, and people call me stupid.... lol Tom, I read about using a strobe too, but I wouldn't wanna put any of them off while they were driving. Would I?!? he he he soul, I actually got the fastest lap time on our team, which musta been during the laps when I wasn't assaulting the barrier... but I'm not exactly in the queue to threaten Shumacher... Doug, yeah - I'm gonna station the still camera near the bottom straight and experiment with the first race. If it doesn't work quick it'll be exclusively video. Cheers All! (",) p.s. I've just checked out their site - even THEIR pictures are blurry!!! aaaargh!Thread: Bargain Basement Studio | Forum: Photography
Great results Richard! MMM. What's better than roses on your piano? Tulips on your organ...erm, I mean in your soft studio that is easily erected...erm, I mean.... oh, darn, I'm gonna stop before this gets silly!
(",) EDIT: Hey TeePee (hehe, Teepee, tent, geddit?!?) They're only fifteen squid!!! Jeez. If the 'non-Brits' can't get them, we can probably do them a great deal at around $100 ;-) $70 profit should just about cover p&p, yeah? :-)

Kort!! Bad, Bad Boy!! I think now is the time to state to strangers here that we don't in any way condone this damn awful behaviour of taking pictures whilst in control of a moving vehicle. It's not big, it's not clever, and it means you have to find somewhere to put your drink and crisps while your holding the camera ;-) (",)

Sheila, go girl!!! yay! well done!! I ain't got no email from Becky but last week I got one from a guy who does poetry on his personal website - decent stuff, quite gothic - and he wanted to use my 'Death of a Vampire' picture... said yes of course, and the poem it's with is quite good, imo. Guess it's about time the Recognition Fairy worked her way around the photography forum with her ickle wand ;-) (",)

aaaagh!! aw, that's bad alright!! I know exactly where you're coming from though. Last Friday I went out to try to get some night shots, but the weather went and rained it off. On the Saturday my stuff was all still in the boot (trunk) of the car - I got 200 yards away from the car and a guy started feeding a massive flock of pigeons from his hand with a nice church in the background.... didn't last long enough for me to run back & get the camera though.....they flocked and flew in about a minute. sigh (",)

Nice one Richard! I read about the same technique on a website a few years back, but done in Photoshop - this seems to give better variation on that. Being a Photoshop person I can't appreciate the diversity of these settings. sigh A tip I followed for a while from the same place was to do the graduation from the outside border towards the centre; thus leaving the centre of the picture lighter and more of a focal point. I did this for a while then got bored, but it helps with some pics.. (",)
