I'm afraid that I've been lurking on this and other threads devoted to the new Library in Poser 8. Unfortunately, I am one of the people that, after trying everything that's been described to fix the problem, still cannot see the Library in Poser 8 at all.
In the end, I moved all of my Poser content (P6-P8) to a portable drive, and upgraded my P3d0 Explorer to recognize P8 as a valid Poser program. I can now at least use the program with P3d0 to load and save stuff. I had to do the move to the portable (500 gig) drive because I was running out of room on my internal 250 gig drive, which was just adding to my problems.
Of course, now that I'm on a portable drive I despair of ever getting the Library to work properly because of the need for the content to be on a Shared Drive. How do you share a portable drive? When I right clicked on the Poser folder on the drive, it told me that to share this folder I had to drag it to the shared folder (which, unless I'm grossly mistaken) resides on my C: drive and would then over fill the drive's capacity again. The only way that I can see that working is if the shared folder does not in fact contain the folder contents but a link to them...
Thread: What got you into using Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It was 2003 and I was out of work (for almost a year)... I needed something to keep me occupied and I hadn't done any freehand drawing in years. I saw a (semi pornographic) superhero comic on the net that had been made using Poser. I figured that I could do that, too, so I forked out the money for Poser 4 and I've been paying through the nose ever since. This is the most expensive hobby that I've ever had.
A couple of years ago I was offered a freelance job doing gay Poser porn. My hubby, John, got a kick out of that...all he wanted to know was how much it paid. That's the closest I've come to actually doing this stuff for money. :heh:

I've even used it to convert morphs from Capsces Hittoro to Littlefox/Capsces Micah...and also into clothing converted from M3 to H3 (or vice-versa) using WW2.

Just figured I'd add my own two cents. I've been a fan of yours for a long time. I've got a complete library of your poses and I've used them frequently over the years.
I'm personally most interested in poses for the male figures (M3, H3, D3)...go figure. Every day poses would be most useful...things like sleeping, eating, sitting (in chairs, on couches, lounging, etc.). Couples stuff is always good, although I'm pretty exclusively male/male.
If you haven't seen the Lady Littlefox/Capsces Furry characters yet, they are Aiko/Hiro based. Any kind of poses that would emphasize their animalistic sides for everyday life would be really cool, too.
Your stuff is great because it doesn't have that stiff look/feel to it.

Thread: Free download - FaceShop 3.7 Basic | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I played with it a little last night. I was able to utilize the three point system in stand alone mode (once I realized it only worked with the internal M3 and V4) and exported the resulting wavefront object file. Unfortunately, I could not load that file in as a morph target for an M3 Head in Poser. I tried several times to do it by loading a head object into Faceshop and realized that, by doing that, I had to add all the points. At this point, one or more of the points didn't take...what I mean by that is that I clicked on where the point was supposed to be (like the corner of the mouth) but the program just skipped that point altogether. The next thing I knew, the whole program kept shutting down. I got frustrated and put it away for another time.
The thing is...I actually liked the program from the beginning. I haven't been able to actually get a morph that looks like whomever's picture I've used, but I have been able to make some characters that do look a bit more realistic. It always takes a lot of work (and a lot of cussing along the way). I thought this upgrade would make it a bit simpler. I'll try it again on another night when I'm more motivated.
Thread: VSS Skin Test - Opinions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I haven't seen this particular problem posted yet...so here goes. I downloaded the VSS script and the new zip file with the prop in it this morning. This is the first time that I've tried this.
I dropped the Runtime folder into my main Poser 6 folder (which I do for all Python scripts) and I dropped the VSSPR2Test.pp2 file into the VSS folder within the Props folder in that Runtime.
I first loaded my character and posed him. Then I tried to load the prop. I sat there for a few minutes waiting for it to load and finally did the Alt/Ctrl/Delete routine to check the Task Manager. At this point Poser showed as Not Responding. I Ended the program and started again from scratch...same result. The last time that I started from scratch and got the Not Responding from the Task Master, I did not immediately End the program but instead, came back to this forum to see if anyone else was having the problem. While I was reading, the prop finally loaded...who knew it would take so long?
Next, I opened my Python Script Menu...clicked on an empty button and brought in your VssMainButtons.py. I then clicked on the button and got the following message:
Cannot get vss script location properly - trying hack
'C:Documents and Settingsx07dminMy DocumentsPoserCurious LabsPoser6Runtime'
'C:Documents and Settingsx07dminMy DocumentsPoserCurious LabsPoser6Runtime'
The double backslashes are there...and x07dmin is supposed to be admin.
I can see your vss buttons now, but if I press, for example, the Synchronize one I get:
File "C:Documents and SettingsadminMy DocumentsPoserPoser6RuntimePythonvssvss.py", line 878, in synchronizeScene
Synchronize (figure)
File "C:Documents and SettingsadminMy DocumentsPoserPoser6RuntimePythonvssvss.py", line 870, in Synchronize
synchronizePair(smats, tmats)
File "C:Documents and SettingsadminMy DocumentsPoserPoser6RuntimePythonvssvss.py", line 733, in synchronizePair
srcstd = shaderTreeDictionary(scrmats)
File "C:Documents and SettingsadminMy DocumentsPoserPoser6RuntimePythonvssvss.py", line 257, in ShaderTreeDictionary
std[mat.ExtName()] = mat.ShaderTree()
AttributeError: ExtName
If it's not obvious, I'm using Poser 6.
Thanks,
Rob

svdl, you da man. I'll be giving it a try later today. Many thanks for all the scripts that you have done for the community.

This is something that I would like very much, too. I would want it to calculate the current height and then allow you to input the height that you would like the character to be. Would this also work on the clothes as well. For that matter, could it be incorporated into an FBM (I use Wardrobe Wizard 2 to make adjustments in the clothing to morphed figures)?
I'm using Poser 6, by the way.
Thread: Making real statues out of Poser figures | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - RobbyBobby: Does it look like the pricing has changed?
Looks the same to me. Mine is about seven inches...no, really, the statue...and it cost $65. Maybe I'll post a picture this weekend...if I can find John's camera. The final product does not look as good as the posted pictures. I did it as a curiosity, so I didn't mind shelling out the money for the experiment at the time.
