yes I know I have done that. Several times. However I think I may have part of the problem figured out. I don't have my runtimes and poser installed on the same drive.  Poser is installed on my C drive but all my runtimes are on my external hard drive. Could this be the problem? Because the figures OBJs are not in the same place as poser. On my old computer, I had installed them on the C drive in Poser as well as on my external.

Yes.
I have just tried importing files that I have already once imported into Vue 4 without a problem, just to test. And I've reset where It looks for my poser.exe file three times just to make sure.
Is there somewhere else in Vue 5 prefs besides where I tell it what version and where to look for poser that I'm not seeing?

oh, and, I tried pleading corrupted download with tech support because you only get one download, and they told me that as long as the archive unpacked and installed that was unlikely to be the case.
that was actually my first thought.

I am (as far as I can be certain) virus and spyware free, I do not have the most up to date drivers installed but right now, only because tech support at e-on told me that if I disabled hardware excelleration and still had an problem it wasn't my drivers.

yes, I did install all the updates.
I don't know what else to do as it stands right now I (or rather my boss) have just wasted $149 on a program I can't use.

Silke: That's true, That and Quarker's models. Grace Lion get's used more than just about anything. And thanks for the comment on Grave Silence :)
Anton: I wasn't trying to be unkind :) And that said, playing devil's advocate, most e-release publishers don't pay it's cover artists oodles of money (at least to start) either so it's quite easy to get caught in the "you get what you pay for" trap, and throw a rushed cover out there trying to mass produce them in order to get paid more.
But, on the fliip side, if I hadn't done the best I could do for them at the time I wouldn't have been able to move up the pay scale to bigger and better things. :)

I did a bunch of covers for EC (see link above) and Cerridwen Press their more mainstream imprint. I do "bodice ripper" covers for a living as well as sci-fi fantasy ones all using poser (and photoshop and vue). Good effects can be gotten using Poser, you only get the 'dead doll' look if you don't put a little effort into it. :)Most of my stuff you can see under my portfolio on my own website here http://www.skyewolfimages.com/
