Subject: Help with Importing Poser Files

SkyeWolf ( ) posted Tue, 24 October 2006 at 10:04 PM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 7:30 AM

OK I finally got my copy of Vue 5 Esprit working...wound up getting a new PC turns out it was the faulty fan in the graphics card....

Anyway!  Now, when I import poser files, all I get are the props. Eyeballs (usually when I use blackeyes) or other smart props. No figures.

Am I doing something wrong?

any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Could you explain a little what you are doing?

The normal process is simple: save your Poser character in Poser as pz3 file. and import this into Vue. It should work.

But have you setzup your Poser correctly in the Vue preferences? And is it pointing to the right version there? These things are important!

Yes.

I have just tried importing files that I have already once imported into Vue 4 without a problem, just to test.  And I've reset where It looks for my poser.exe file three times just to make sure.

Is there somewhere else in Vue 5 prefs besides where I tell it what version and where to look for poser that I'm not seeing?

Thanks

I was talking about the "Configure Poser import" where, when you click onto thw button you get the second window you see on top of my screenshot. There you must browse to the correct Poser version from where you want to import. Otherwise it goes wrong.

Reason? Poser pz3 do not have full pathnames in their files because Poser knows where to look for geometry and other files. Therefore Vue must know as well where it should look for those things.

Let us know wether you make any progress.

yes I know I have done that. Several times. However I think I may have part of the problem figured out. I don't have my runtimes and poser installed on the same drive.   Poser is installed on my C drive but all my runtimes are on my external hard drive. Could this be the problem? Because the figures OBJs are not in the same place as poser.  On my old computer, I had installed them on the C drive in Poser as well as on my external.

Yes, this can be the problem - probably is. But you can test it yourself. Import something that comes out of the default Runtime in the Poser application folder and then something that comes from an external drive one. To see the differences.
