I've been a bit busy, and having a devil of a time working out how these things work again after all this time... but here's a quick preview of a new texture map for pdxjims's turban-- thank you! I remapped it, but it still takes your original files quite well. Look how happy Michael 2 is... coming along...

Thanks, Ockham. I didn't miss Step 4... I don't know what I did, but I must have done something wrong. Unfortunately the Mac version of UVMapper doesn't work as a drag-and-drop. Maybe you have Pro? There is as yet no Pro for Mac (but the day that there is, I'll be begging my usband for toys). I suspect I'm just a bit rusty. I'm going to read the UVMapper tutorials again and try your step by step routine, Ockham. Thanks!

H'm, now this is weird. I tried importing the remapped .obj, but it won't take .jpg files I create in Photoshop. One test file I made for it simply won't load. Others wil load, but they won't render. Bizarre.

I did export it as an .obj, yes, and I can remap that no problem. But the remap only applies to the exported .obj file, not to the prop as it pops up in Poser, because it's a completely separate file. Should I just import the remapped .obj file as a new prop? I think that should work...

Thank you both. Alexic, that's quite true: there's a great deal of cultural significance, and for myself I am quite ignorant of the details. There are quite a lot of Sikhs where I live, and to me in the picture I posted it looks similar to the turbans I see on Sikh men... maybe that's why I like it. I can see if I can find a few more photos. Pdxjims, thank you! That's very generous of you. If I do retexture it (and if the texture is any good at all) I will certainly send you a copy. That's a wonderful David texture in the picture you posted. Is that also yours? I confess I don't have David (and I've already called in my Christmas present!).

Thank you thank you thank you, Diolma and Ssween! Any modeling skills at all are far better than my nonexistant ones, I assure you. Diolma, I'm not sure why the picture isn't showing up for you, but here's it's url: http://www.pretor.pl/expedition/grafiki/kosowo/niebieski-turban.jpg and I'll try to attach it as a file as well. It's similar to the style of turban you often see on Sikh men, but I am no fine distinguisher of turbans, and you're right, there are a thousand and one different styles. I'm not sure how difficult a thing to model that would be... I suppose it would depend on the level of detail you wanted to go for. I count six wraps down the left (his left) on that guy's turban, but you could easily go for two or three or even none and try to bring it out the detail with texture and bumps, in which case it becomes my problem. ;) If either or both of you want to have a crack at it, I will do what I can to do it justice. I'm no master texturer, but I have a lot of patience for sitting in front of Photoshop for hours. No rush-- I'm very grateful for your efforts! Thanks loads for your interest!

He looks to me like Jesus should-- human, not like some ideally handsome Frenchman with long flowing golden locks and far too many ribs.
