Anybody know of a good free ad-blocking plugin? Maybe something similar to Adblock for FF? The extensions were what made FF truly cool for me, but now that's the only thing it has going for it.

Have you asked in the Poser forum? I know that when I'm looking for skies for my Bryce renders that the best place to start is the Bryce forum.

I've seen a camera for sale that used a scanner, but like Onslow, I've never seen a desktop scanner used like that.
Thread: Kind of OT: Apple releases intel-powered computers | Forum: Bryce
As a student, I just love the educational price! I get to buy these computers for a whole $100-$200 cheaper! But at that price, it isn't really much of a discount. The cool discounts are everywhere else. I can get Maya for for about $400. Then again, I am a student and really poor, so it is still really expensive!

Thread: OT,........satellite Internet access ?! | Forum: Bryce
Come to think of it, I do know someone with satellite that doesn't need a phone line. My basic point is this: the internet is a two way system. Servers don't send out data unless it is requested, therefore satellite must have a system in place for sending user requests.

Actually, pidjy, that's not quite true. Most of the satellite services I've looked at connect using dialup for uploads. Otherwise, one couldn't interact with a service like Renderosity.

The quick-release plates that came with my tripod have levels but you can't see them when a camera is attached!

Photoshop strips the EXIF data to make the jpeg smaller for the web. You can Save As a jpeg and keep the data.
Thread: OT..freaky cloud | Forum: Bryce
I saw that picture and immediately thought wall cloud. It is an interesting fact that I have lived for 20 years in Tornado Alley and have yet to see a tornado. All my friends have, but I haven't.
Thread: Semi OT - Fake or Foto | Forum: Photography
I agree with you. I didn't mean to include all other programs and you provided a very good example a program that can do really cool stuff. I've rendered things with free programs that some thought were produced by really expensive programs.
Thread: Semi OT - Fake or Foto | Forum: Photography
Actually, it is a question of what Maya can do. The whole point of the website is to show that Maya can produce results that are indistinguishable from actual photos. There are things that Maya can do that other programs can't even dream about doing. But yes, the artist is also important.
