If you don't need the figures to move, but just still poses, it's better to export as .obj, or whatever else you want, from Poser, and then import to max so there is no direct link. Every time you update the poser file, it overwrites the materials in max (basically re-imports the whole thing), so it's a little more work to save the materials separately in Max, and re-apply them every time... assuming you plan on making materials in max.

I should add that I personally haven't tried animation from Poser to Max.

Maybe they were done with the though that clothes would  be worn, and the "bra" was assumed/imagined to be there under the clothes. I'd personally prefer this to the alternative, and would rather have a separate set of unclothed/braless breast morphs.

I don't consider myself a diehard poser user by any stretch - I use other 3D software for figure rendering too. But I don't see myself ever switching to DS just for a figure. The whole idea is just crazy to me.

If DAZ makes a standalone figure that's poser compatible then I'll consider buying that.

Myunderstanding is that Genesis will export with any version of DS. I think right now the drawback is that it only exports the figure. This means no hair, clothes, or materials. At least that's what I read somewhere.

To be honest, I think it's going to depend on how the figure bends, and renders. I really wonder how this is going to work considering how the DAZ Sub-Dragon (if people still remember that) didn't work so well in Poser.

I'm personally not looking forward to buying a bunch of morphs that are not on sale at a significant discount. I'm guessing it will be what, at least $50 to get basic morphs so the the figure is usable (unless you want to just use the standard morph for everything)?

I think something that, in addition to other things I probably don't know about, what prevents SM from directly supporting Genesis in Poser is the patent pending Tri-Ax weightmap per joint system. If poser starts using this, DAZ could, at any point, start charging a fee to SM for every copy of Poser sold.

I believe he's talking about some exporter that will be out for DS4. He also said that when this exporter is out, Genesis won't work the same as in DS - so I assume that it'll load in Poser, but won't scale like in DS. I guess we'll find out if that's the only thing that doesn't work when it comes out.

I looked at this again. Yes, this is where I started having troubles. On older versions of installers, I'm not sure how to set the, what appears to be a, custom path variable in the options. It looks like DAZ did their own thing for that part of the installation.

Here is a sample of what I had working that I could find. I think I also had trouble with the earlier installers

essentially run this from the commandline:

and then the contents of the options.txt are:

From my research, it seems that the old installer (Vise Installer from MindVision) do not accept easily commands... (this is wrong - you can have use commands, but none of them seems to install it correctly - I would need to know the variables name to create a batch installer).

From what I remember (which may not be correct), you can create a log file, or a log file is created somehow, and in there, it tells you which variable is missing/wrong when going through it. I remember doing this at some point when trying the various versions of the installers.

Daz uses the bitrock installers (www.bitrock.com). In the past I got as far as creating a config file that could be used to automate the installation (with a silent install), but became distracted with other things and never got back to it before it was 100% working.

It's a matter of getting used to it. Just like any software product. I challenge anyone to pickup a copy of ZBrush for the first time and not be completely lost.

If I remember correctly, I think you can get the headphones on the Marie Elite character somewhere in the DAZ3D store. I think that's what you might be looking for. It might be part of a hair product. I could be wrong, but maybe it give you a place to start looking.
