Thank you so much, Silverblade & Mycat, for your time and trouble!!!
AND......... for your advice!!! That helps!!!
(we know a lot of wiz kids & wizards, but they don't understand!
For them the machine seems to be the goal, not the tool!
An acquaintance-who-'makes'-computers said: "but what will you need to internet?
(In Holland 'to internet' is a verb, as was 'to computer' 100 years ago! ;-)) You won't need all of that! Oh, what was that program of yours again? -that was Bryce...- Vue??? But why don't you use Blender???" "I bought Vue and would like to USE it!" "You BOUGHT it? Do you know how much it costs?!? Site here says..." -duh-
meaning... 'they' either underestimate or think I want to break the sound barrier... and I -born digiliterate- have to draw a line... (some)where???
just want a 64 bits system, Intel quad @ 2,4, nVidia 8800 GT or GTS -what is GTX?-
and a board that can handle 8 gig of ram (and an exhaust pipe LOL)
and disc(s), but 2 external discs here?... for data i.e. impressive runtime ;-)
system requirements @ e-on 'help' a lot... (not! ;-))
according 2 those my laptop is absolutely capable... (Acer aspire 1714 smi, P4 3,4 gig, 2048 ram- a 'beast'... 4 years ago. :-( 17" full monster, 7,2 kilograms, hosts 'normal' computer parts. Have seen it on test in 3dWorld (no, didn't win.. ;-)).
therefore... thank you!!!
so you know what I mean... LOL
'my' Vue can get upset over 'nothing'...
THX again!!

is what I meant... LOLLL
Thread: I'm looking for hardware advice! New Computer!!! | Forum: Vue
question if I may...
so now I'm 'shopping' around to have a simular system (THX, Silverblade!) build...
and am getting berserk with all the nessecities the technicians come up with, like superfast ddr3 ram or must-have extra-special ddr2 or...
Some say it won't 'work' without super fast memory or (raptor) discs or.............
(meaning: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ i.e. can't afford... i.e. end of 'story'')
(example: instead of 'just' around 28 Euro per 1 gig ram, price would be 80 Euro per 1 gig -times 8!-)
more specific advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
and............... now you have these hevy-duty machines, is your every wish Vue's command?
no more 'advice' like 'Vue has just dropped below.................'
it runs like a dream, even if you forget to mow the lawn, with a zillion grasses on it?
and doesn't get the hickups when the metaclouds pop up and you use your most beautiful lights?
what about the bugs in Vue 6 Infinite 64 bits-version?
simular?
(32 bit- Vue 6 Inf. owner here ;-))
if you would be willing to share your experience: greatly appreciated!!!
Thread: Grass for lawns!!! (C3D) | Forum: Vue
Hi!
The lush grass is also in my cart waiting for purchase. It looks sooo tasty... and who doesn't need nice weeds in the lawn!?! ;-)
But... have you seen 'Flink's grass' and 'fairytale grass' here at Renderosity?
They look delicious too and will work with the eco-systems... (I heard ;-)).
(just not growing... no mowing ;-))
Anyone familiar with those (in Vue)???
(lawn is getting expensive... ;-))
Thread: to render? | Forum: Vue
Hi!
Thank you so much for all of your responses!!!
And sorry for a late reply! I'm a born digiliterate and proved it by messing up the Windows-drivers of my 'real' notebook (first time ever, but still... ;-( ) Since that is my 'Internet'-computer, I wasn't able to get on the Internet 'til now...
Do 'cows' have to be compatible in terms of system requirements? I.e. the notebook is 4 1/2 years old (PIII 1 Ghz, 256 RAM -you may laugh) -and heavely armoured with 2 virus scanners, slowing it down- and our desktop is ... like antique...
The big notebook is one of those sturdy Acers (1714), which I bought second hand. I've seen test reports in which they questioned if this could be named a 'notebook'... ;-)
It has a huge 17 inch SVGA screen and weights a solid 7,2 kilograms. Therefore it can host 'real' genuine computer parts, hopefully a BIG fan as well. (do like the bathroomfloor option though grin ;-)).
I've heard about the AMD's (we have a friend telling it all the time... ;-)). What is confusing me is how to translate the dual core features to system requirements (for instance World Builder wants 2,4 Ghz the least, 'performs' on 3,2...). Now there are nice! powerful dual cores as well, but to us this is a 'wallet-issue' (meaning 'can't afford' $$$!) and once you are used to working on a notebook... ;-)
So I was considering looking for a heavy duty desktop... second hand. And of course upgrading the RAM to the max. of 2048.
Bryce used to render looooooooooong in the past and I didn't plant a zillion trees and grasses... yet. ;-) Still it had some effect on my blood pressure... ;-D
I even planned to render at the highest resolution possible...LOL
Could you give averages? Like a so-and-so picture will render 2 weeks on a ........ (?) machine, but 1 week on a ........ and a few hours on several ........?
How long (short? ;-)) will rendering take with the very best scenario and what equipement would be involved?
Is it possible to state times and numbers?
Thanks again!!!
Ine
