What you are referring to is called "collision detection" and it is very processor intensive to do it right.  If you were to look at a video game closely the collision rarely touches or will slightly overlap. While it is possible to do with a plug in I doubt it will be a part of the core product because the processing requirements would raise the bar of who could use the software.

Basically if the render is going to take more than 10 minutes then I render it on the desktop. Glad to help.

I have a P4 3.2Ghz desktop at home and a Centrino laptop. I use the laptop more than the desktop for my 3D. Usually I will get it all setup then transfer the files to the desktop to do the rendering. But if it is just a quicky render I will just render it on the laptop. I would not do a major render on a laptop and the reason has nothing to do with speed. The problem is that 3D rendering heats up the processor like nothing else and laptops are designed to be run less vigorously.

Render to your target size. Otherwise you will only get bigger pixels.

If you have an OBJ file then it is possible to set it up using a text editor but it is laborious and you will find that it is worth the price to just buy Poser.

Just reset your downloads in your account history. Takes about 30 minutes to process. I have no answer to your second.

S3 doesn't have an adequate OpenGL implementation and Studio really requires it. As to a new card if your primary focus is OpenGL then I recommend a nVidia 5200FX or higher. Some people have gotten good results with ATI 9xxx series but I haven't used them with Studio.
