Thanks for the info. I had originally planned on using a single map to make it easier to use in sculpting and painting apps such as zbrush, hexagon, silo etc. I know it's a pain to paint in hexagon when the maps overlap. Of course, I think it's always a pain to paint in hex, but that's just me.

I'm going to have to think about the Universal poses proportion thing. It makes perfect sense from the animation ease of use point of view, but part of the fun of a toon figure is extreme proportions. I'll probably try to find some sort of middle ground. Besides, I haven't got poser 7 so I don't know, wouldn't any figure with similar proportions be able to use the same poses anyway?
I think they may be too low poly to do good spandex morphs. I've tried mask mat zones on a previous figure, but the lines on this mesh don't lend themselves well to that, and I don't want to dirty up the mesh with unnecessary lines. I think a simple texture map would probably work better.
I don't consider myself a prude, but I don't intend to include genitals, male or female. My figures dont even have nipples (sorry). I dont see them as particularly sexy, or appropriate for studying anatomy, so I don't see the point. I figure if anyone wants nipples, a displacement map could probably be made.
I would like to know about the single map versus multi map thing. I started with a single map configuration, but then made the head bigger to make it easier to map. It would be easy to change back though.
The figures do have lots of scaling options, hands, feet, head, torso, limbs, all that. It's not as comprehensive as Apollo, but you can do some stuff with it. I've placed the channels on the hip, and you can make scaling poses just like any other pose.
I'm redoing all the morphs, so I'll consider any suggestions. I don't plan to do many body morphs, mostly just face shape and expression morphs.
Lastly, here's a picture of Emil,(the big guy) in my modeller, with his proportions tweaked. This is still a WIP, though.

I actually really like the UV tools in Silo, they work well for me. Until I export as OBJ. A lot of times the UVs don't export correctly, which is quite annoying. But they are still way more useful than the UV tools in Hex, which act crazy for me.

Yes, I use Silo for modeling and UVs, and then use Hex for assigning materials and cutting the mesh up for Poser. Both apps have little workflow quirks that make me prefer one or the other for different things. I got Hex for cheap when it was on sale at DAZ, and boy am I glad. It's so unstable on my system I'd have been mad if I'd paid full price. But I love the color scheme in Hex, that's why my Silo interface is the color it is.

Yeah, I will, once the rigging is done. I'll probably do at least some head and body shaping morphs and some scaling dials, too.

Yeah, his look is inspired by the Legion of Superheroes cartoon, so I definitely think of him as superheroic. If and when I do release him, I plan to include some basic clothes, props and maybe a second skin or two. I don't know that I'll do any kind of realistic skin texture, though. I'm not sure I have the texturing skills to pull that off. Plus, he's so stylized, I think simple material settings are enough to get good results.

Thread: Morphs, Mags or Bones? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I appreciate everyone's input on this, it's a lot of good information. I spent some time yesterday plating with the Girl and 3D Universe's Sara, both of which have bones for the breasts. Even when I messed around with the joint parameters, I couldn't really get any really good results. At least not what I wanted.
I spent a good couple of hours trying to make a couple of magnets into a figure, so I could add FBMs and control them like morphs. I finally succeeded (sort of) by creating magnets on a character, then saving them as a prop, along with a bucky ball primitive. I then hand coded some dials onto the ball, so you can select the ball and control both magnets at once. It doesn't work perfectly, in P5 I have to move the camera a bit after every dial change for the changes to show, but it does work. It works fine in DAZ Studio.
The cool thing is, by adjusting the mag zones, it works with any figure, and, although I haven't tested it, I would assume it would work on their clothes, too.
So far, I've only coded in two controls for two breast magnets, up/down and together/apart. I'm thinking I might add some more controls and then offer the prop as a freebie. It could be useful for making morphs, or as a good introduction to magnets, or it could just be a fun thing to play with.

Haven't played Tak, I don't have a lot of time for video games. I have lots of plans, but I lack two essential ingredients for productivity, time and discipline. I was thinking of this guy as a superhero type, but I want to use the base mesh to make a whole line of other body types. I already have a youth type figure, both male and female, and plans for others. Clothes, too, but who knows what kind of timeline.
