The process is not related to the kind of object you're using (dxf, lightwave or 3ds. We suppose that you succesfull imported your object, eventought things with Lightwave objects does'nt work so well). Take in mind the path you want assing at the camera. Position the camera at the starting point, with the timeline at 00.00.00 . In the camera property panel assign a type of motion to the camera. For your purpose perhaps "standard" will be fine. In the same panel link the camera to your Lightwave object. Now, advancing the time in the timeline, move your camera to set some keyframe: they will "describe" the path of your camera along the time. Maybe you will have to play a little and make some try with the Main Axis value in the object animation panel. Try also with the setting in the advanced panel (under the pbject animation panel click on "advanced" or something like that on the left bar at the top): maybe will be usefull some options like "look ahed" or "smooth speed". Preview and render. That's all :=)

Thread: Lightwave Import surface problem | Forum: Vue
Ok, it seems that everybody agree that Vue have problem importing Lightwave objects: from Ligh. 6 or highter because Vue don't support the format, and form Lig, 5 because it does'nt import textures, BUT, read what write E-on at page 92 of the Vue Manual: "[Vue import] Lightwave 5 files (raw geometry with groups, textures conversion" and again: "Both the 3D Studio and Lightwave import filters go incredibly far in the conversion of existing materials, converting such complex effects as color, bump, transparency and reflections maps, and even some procedural settings!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where? In the deams of e-on programmers, I guess!... this seems to be a bad promise, and I would like to know why they wrote that!
Thread: Lightwave Import surface problem | Forum: Vue
Again thanks Mike, from Lightwave 7 I can save only in 2 format: 5.5 or 7. But I madea test even with a Lightwave 6 or 6.5 object that I found on the net and the result was the same (with version 7 files I have an unsopported format error). This puzzle me because e-on insist in the manual in the ability of Vue 4 (last patch installed) to import fully textured ghtwave object. And unfortunalty - I checked the manuals - seems that Lig. when export in obj format don't create any MTL file. I know the long way to remap all the material, but it is a long way and the honestly i don know how to recreate all the surface effects I had obtained there. Anyway, thanks again. ***Luca "cinacchi"

Yes, VARIAN, but I was puzzled from stars in the sky: maybe they increase files. But the problem is the same 2uth a 48 Kb file with a scene with standard daylight, sun an camera to north, one cube with the standard checkboard material (it is a object oriented material). Rotate the cube each time of 90 degrees in the top view and you (I !) will have 2 faces with a lighter light and 2 faces with a darker light (same if you rotate in the side view). And this don't happen if I make the same with my old Vue 2

I am using the 4.02 version too (no problem with it). No, when I rotate the sphere the light don't rotate. The light is not linked to the sphere. To make the test easier I switched of all the animation property of all object (no keyframe or object in timeline), working with a static image. I tryed with the sun at the place of the spotlight, same result. I'm getting crazy: I must made a short clip of the heart rotating in the space with same camera movement, and this problem is stopping me since 2 days! I'm almost sure is not a program bug, but something wrong that I'm doing. If you want I can send you the file of the scena, but it is 4,6 Mb (I cannot understand why, with just one light and 2 simple primitive objects). For me is not aproblem (I have a DSL) but I don't know if it is for you.

ADDENDUM: I just made a test, and the same thing happens even when I use procedural material... If I use the "object" [standard or sphera) setting for the Mapping, I loose al the controll on the light!!!!!!
Thread: Vue, Animations & Stars | Forum: Vue
Thanks Mike for the suggestion. I will try eventought I'm not sure It will work in my case. In fact, since what i want is the planet Heart rotating in the space, illuminated by the sun, with NO ground, and with the camera goig around, I had already to do this: * delete the ground * create an infinite plane with a perfect reflecting material, orientating it down (so it is not paralled to the "ground" that does'nt exist) * set the sky with stars, working alot in fog, haze and skymap positions, to avoid a "break" between the real sky and the reflected sky on the plane "downstair" :) So, I don't know what will happen addin one more plane but I will try and I will let you know.
Thread: Tech Question: Vue & nVida | Forum: Vue
I daon't have any direct experience with Geoforce 3, but with my Geoforce 2 Ultra 63 Mb by Creative, I had no special problem with Vue and Open GL. Only, when I tryed to install the latest driver to see if there was some performace improovment, I had to came back because everything in Vue was not working. Of course Vue is not the most stable program, but the number of crash that I have is still on the average (considering also the higt number of devices that i have on my pc, from scsi card to isdn & adsl card, to pinnacle digital video card to 6 HD and more. And I'm running in win 98 FIRST edition (everything works so I don't see any reasons to jump in the dark with the 2.nd edition). And YES, Vue vorks with dual Xeon processor: in fact, I have a single Xeon 450, and I WOULD LIKE to add a second one, but I cannot find it anywhere (at least in Italy... nobody in the USA know if there Pentium Xeon 2 450 MHz is still available?)
Thread: Pitch & Azimut: the image | Forum: Vue
No, Bloodsong, sunrise and sunset are not the same atmosphera: I changed the colors. Basically I have there 3 atsmosphere: one for the sunrise, one for the morning-noon-afternoon, and one with the sunseet. In fact, in Vue if you change only the postion of the sun in the sky, the sky color don't change very much, as in the real life (I thinks to let you more creative freedom). Also, the other problem witha 360 degree panoramic a "problem" are the clouds: they "spread" as a patchwork all around the image, in a not natural way and you have to fine tune them.

Thread: New vob objects | Forum: Vue
Sorry, Varian, I did'nt realized that this was a copyright infringment: I tought that it was a "public domain" model, after setted and "freezed" in vob format. Sorry again :( ***Luca "cinacchi"
Thread: New vob objects | Forum: Vue
Yes, it's right. I don't know why, but the server (it's the server of Telecom Italy, damn!)where it is hosted the file after 40 Kb quit the downlad. I uploaded the file again and again, chianging its name too, but with no result. :( Maybe it will be fixed by itself.. Anyway, if you guys try and it is still not working, want the vob file just drop me a line with your email adress and I will send it to you.
