I've played with this app from Qarbon in the past and have seen some photoshop tutorials made with it and was pretty impressed -- they have a pay version and a free version (which is what we're all after, isn't it). The link takes you to some of the samples they have posted -- note the sample at the bottom of the page for Carrara. Looks the company has grown up a bit since I played with the app in its earlier days, but thought you might find this useful. I think that with the free version you have to post your tutorial on their server (which can be good news for those looking for a place to post things).Thread: Have I future with this | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Perhaps sleeves - or some way for the arms to be useful when worn. Otherwise, it seems a bit impractical. Of course, I'm no fashion guru, but...

Personally, I think you may be trying to include too much in here...making it a very busy image and the eye just doesn't know where to focus. We tend to go to the bright portions of an image and you've got a few here. Matching the lighting from composited images is important too-- your main light source comes from the 'back' of the picture, yet the shadows cast by your characters are off to the right instead of in front of them. Also, because of your even lighting on the landscape, you leave out clues that suggest depth. Of course I have no works of art hanging in any museums, but I offer my opinion for what it's worth.

Thanks Dr. Geep for the links to your tutorials...I certainly will give them a go. Like spedler, I'm something of a bookaholic and will end up purchasing the P6 books as well. Still not sure from the limited feedback if P5 and P6 are that substantially different than the move from P4 to P5.
Thread: Poser 6 revealed | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
As I just moved from Poser 4 (pro-pack)to version 6, the differences between the versions is quite substantial. I was in fact just about to purchase version 5 when I got word through the forum that six was on its way, so I held off and now have it up and running... Are the differences between 5 and 6 so substantial that a Poser 5 book would be worthless or is there enough similarity that a P5 book could help-- in particular the different lighting/rendering options. (I suppose the whole material/cloth/hair rooms would also fall into that category for me as well, but...) Can anyone recommend a good P5 book that might be beneficial since the P6 literature (bookwise) is slim? Thanks-- David

Thanks to both of you! I'll try this tonight. And xenic101 you needn't worry about the ten minutes. I think I see what I have been doing wrong.
Thread: Converting or Importing .W3D into Bryce? | Forum: Bryce

This is the site for "The Great Buildings" There are quite a few free 3D models of buildings there in .3dmf format. I have converted some of them in the distant past and used them in other 3D apps -- can't say as I remember what I used now. There is a program ($$) I believe it's called PolyTrans that converts just about all 3D formats from one type to another.Thread: Commercial banner ads.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
...but if the pop-up lasts for more than four hours you should seek immediate assistance. That's what the moderators are here for, right?
Thread: Loss of transparencies with export to prop | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have been wondering about (I suppose) is the same thing, except that I want to bring the figure into another application. For instance, if I create a scene in Poser and then export it to say Bryce, typically, the hair trans maps are gone and now it looks like the model has helmet hair instead of the strands I would get if rendered in Poser (I am using ProPack and not P5) --- is there a way to do this correctly?

...not to give too much away (age), my first modem was a 300 baud acoustic modem -- it required that you place the handset of the telephone into a cradle in order to go online...and now I'm zipppppppppppping along with cable! And remember, when moving at those higher speeds, stopping on the internet takes longer - so drive carefully.

Thread: Lens Flare Q | Forum: Photoshop
To put a lens flare on its own layer, fill the layer with black, then, on the layers panel, change the mode of that layer to 'screen' and then place your flare. If you want to be sure the flare goes exactly where you want it, you can also mark a place on the black layer (a very small circle/dot of white -- or whatever color you want, just make it small). As I recall, the Apple version of PS let's you place the flare (if you're using the PS filter and not some other plugin) at an exact location by noting the spot on the navigation/info pallette whereas the PC version does not do this.

Catharina-- Since nobody else seems to have picked up on your comment about the tutorial idea and your limited English skills, I would love to help you put one together. Sooooo, I offer my services as your proofreader! (Of course qualifications available upon request...mine that is, everybody here knows yours!) David
