I personally don't submit because I don't think any of my stuff is a good fit for that calendar. The style chosen is the publisher's choice, and they know what they are doing to make a successful product. That's not to say that other styles would never sell in a calendar or book, but that is for someone else to risk and find out. I do not hold that against them that my way of making pictures doesn't fit into the style they want and I would certainly not hold that against Panny and Linda. They were chosen to gather the images and guess what, that means they are also part of the reason for successful calendars year after year. So they are clearly choosing the right images.

Wish I could data mine the rendo database. Could find some interesting stats I'm sure, about traded/automatic comments, traded/automatic votes, other patterns.. Sad that human nature kind of spoils the system.

The easiest solution is to change the name from "Hot20" to "Vote Swapping Extravaganza!!!!" .. Those extra exclamation points mean extra fun! Although this might offend any Hot20ers who actually think every one of their images really is worthy to be recognized as a top image.

Lagardo- perhaps nobody claims it is other than a popularity contest, but I think most of us can relate to visiting another gallery and checking the Hot20 first expecting to see the best recent work that is in the gallery. I often go to C4D and TG galleries and look in their Hot20.. And you know what, the best work generally is in those Hot20s. Our Hot20 is too watered down with the auto voted/swapped voted images. The fractal window weekly is a much better example of great work.

Today there is an image in the Hot20 that is not even an image, it is a message. Sorry, that just seems wrong to me.

Andreas your excellent style is very unique; I think many of us could recognize

I always assumed that R'osity admin would fix the counts I guess.. I've pruned out my gallery a few times since then.. I was up to like 50 pages at one point lol.

I wouldn't have regretted it if UF had cost 5 times that amount... I have spent thousands of hours with UF and I feel like I have only scratched the surface.

it's a general observation about the comments in the Renderosity fractal gallery. Despite the fact that most of what is posted here is average (how could it be otherwise?), most of the gushing comments make it sound as though nearly every image is a masterpiece. And the more comments someone hands out, somehow their artwork gets better--well they get more comments anyway. Those comments have to say something, so generally it's something generic like the above.

best you can hope for at this point is using the fractal as a heightmap..see my gallery.. oh and like they said, the new Xenodream release is supposed to export 3d models.
