I have been using 8.1 on my main render machine, plus the Win10 review on another. There are definitely some better 64-bit multi-core memory management things in newer Windows, which helps large-memory tasks like Poser. As for trust ... I think you either need to "trust" Microsoft, or start using Ubuntu Linux and blender. If you don't trust Win10, then how would Win7 or XP be any better? Your either on the bus, or off it.
(I have an 8-core 4.0 Ghz AMD with 16MB and 256GB SSD for Windows, 3 TB for Poser content, PPro2014 and Win 8.1)

Some interesting comments ... but I wasn't aware there was this billion market of 3DsMax users eager to pay $40 for V7 (naked & without clothing!) :).
I doubt DAZ is greedy - likely they just want to make payroll month by month. Most companies work that way. Still, as a Poser PRO 2014 user who kind of, almost got the DSON import working predictably a few months ago, I signed up to DAZ3D "PC club" again after 4 years of absence, plus spent (per my credit card records) close to $400 on G2F content at Daz and rendo in May - building up a basic library. It has been fun, and assuming I clear the DSON cache often enough it works.
Still, I'll keep an eye on DAZ, and if they move to only G3F and non-Poser, I'll drop them again. Will they care? not likely (given the billion $$ 'other tool' Market some posters say DAZ is chasing.) It is like the poster who added a comment to one of my forum threads about how "If Poser doesn't soon work on Linux, I'll seek other options!" SNORT! Many of us are BIG frogs in very small ponds!

She's supposedly got more-better rigging... "Twice as many points of articulation than before", whatever that means. Two elbow joints? I don't think so... A couple more joints in the shoulders, hip/thigh and trunk would be nice, though.
But, "DS Only" is a killer.
The fact that G2F has the pelvis and a few more sections in the belly has been helpful - so how often do you have a perfect pose ... except you wish she were tipped a bit more forward or back from the hips? With V4 you had to rotate the hips, which moved the legs & feet. With G2F, her pelvis allows the hip rotate without affecting feet.
(I am learning to use her in Poser - so far is great for output, but DSOn seems to cache a bit too much & if you get out of sync, old stuff stops working).
I agree about the DS-only road-block. Since i started using G2F in Poser, I'm sure I've spent a few hundred at DAZ (after 3 years of zero purchases), but I'm not going to abandon Poser for the privilege of obsoleting all my old content & starting over with a credit card! :)
I have PP2014, an octo-core AMD, 16GB RAM, Win8.1 (soon to be 10) and about 4TB of hardware with another 4TB backup.

I have you tried Poser Copy morphs? A4 is a morph for Victoria 4. I use the Copy Morph for Aiko4, Girl4 and the She Freak body morphs.
Yup - use it all the time! Best thing since sliced bread, as it allows an A4 to wear (most) V4-only items. But that doesn't solve the flexing hips or thigh problem. The clothing doesn't follow the pose as accurately as G2F. (I did try the fitting room a few times back in PP2012, but it was generally more work that just the post-work: first render, allow poke-thru, second partial render with A4 invisible, to get the clothing item complete. I'm sure they spent a lot of time on the fitting room, but still, what is fastest? Most predictable?

My problem is that the bulk of my poser runtime doesn't have the DS mats (or support). Even if DAZ supplied the Meta-data, I didn't install.
I do love the way the DSON and G2F gals fit their clothing. Add a pose, and the clothing adjusts. Does A4 do that? No. With A4 I'm forever tweaking hips or thighs or boobs ... or even doing post-work to paint over the exposed flesh. Yah, in Poser there are cloth room & magnet tools, but the postwork in Gimp is far faster.

Well, I have started a NEW DSON runtime, so instead of trying to share DAZ 4.8 library with Poser, I have begun a new runtime, where I delete the "people" (etc). So far, the result is great. An A6 saved with some G2F body morphs applied reloads exactly as expected.
So instead of deleting the old DS 4.8 library, I am starting a new /poser/gen2 runtime with only the data & runtime directories. So far, it is working well.

DSON is definitely SLOWER - dial spinning stutters and i find myself often manually tweaking the digits, or ticking the up/down on each side of the dial. I've only been working at this since Poser 7, but I remember when most renders took 20 to 30 minutes on an old AMD X - now I have an AMD octo-core with 16GB and Win8.1 with PPro2014 maximizes all cores & the full RAM. test renders (without IDL or SSS) take seconds.
For fun, below is a quick DSON in PP2014 image with 3 G2F Callie - and the CPU fan (normally off) ran a steady hum as long as the scene was open.
I might just delete my DS and 'My DAZ' library and start over, as I have discovered that any & all People you install consume about 1/4 MB of space in the Pz3. So for example, I installed Ninive 6, but didn't really like her form ... but now forever, every Poser scene I creates includes a 1/4 MB of valueParam, tagetGeom, and deltaAddDelta for her - add in V6, A6, Belle 6, Girl 6 and that means several MB of flotsam in each & every PZ3 file (DAZ might want to reconsider that design). If I start over, I can stop installing stuff I have but don't plan to use.
I wrapped a little story around it: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=2625142

DSON sucks
Actually, if you figure out what DSON is good at, and what it is not good at ... that bypasses whatever reason you say it sucks. The right tool for the right job. For example, adding a Poser-based V4 jewelry prop to a DSON-based A6/V6 as a typical parented prop works pretty darn good - some simple XYZ adjust, maybe some scaling and it looks perfect - however trying to use DSON to add a G2F jewelry item to a V4/A4 (in Poser) is a disaster! There seems to be no way to 'parent' the DSON object to a non-DSON object in a way which allows it to follow bends properly (like earrings on an ear as the head moves).
Also, an Aiko6 in DSON must be worked with differently than a Aiko4 - that kept me away from DSON for over a year - for example, I am used to finding face & mouth pose control in the head ... yet DSON puts it in the body under 'pose control' under head, mouth, or expressions. That was unexpected, so I thought "how crazy - no face controls?" until I understood the new paradigm.

DSON Importer does have a cache location. You can see where it is in the Poser menu: Scripts->DSON Support->Import Preferences... You could try emptying it's cache, but I don't know how it will effect your saved files.
Thanks for a second test & opinion - gives me a reason to struggle on. I did have the 'runtine' set wrong at first, as I assumed DSON meant where is the Poser runtime, not the DAZ G2F runtime - that caused LOTS of trouble.ย While I tried to clean up any old work files, I did not do a big search & destroy.
I'm not worried about 'saved' files ... as they don't really work well. So I'd much rather delete ALL old work as well as the cache - if it make life go better going forward :)

Actually - I just had a thought. I wonder if some other content installed a 'shoulder fix', which might be confusing the DSON task search algorithm? In my early days of DAZ and G2F I installed everything I found ... assuming like V4/A4 in Poser, that a new 'pose' had no impact unless applied.
Yet DSON builds a CR2/PMD (it seems) with EVERYTHING in the /data directory, so in effect every fix/change gets padded into the scene, even if the dial is 0.0 always. Given the vague names in the DUF, this could lead to name-space issues (something I am familiar with in Python, where HOW you import a modules means the same code be in RAM multiple times as different namespaces).
Thread: G2F (Callie 6, G6, or A6) MATs suitable for Poser pro 2014 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks Bagginbill - I'll lok at that harder. I tried EZSkin, but since I didn't understand the jargon, I was just using a G2F-in-Poser config set someone uploaded at ShareCG ... which might explain why I didn't see any change :).
I have been working more with the poser MAT room and clothes props, but so far people have too many material zones to make it enticing. What you show in the above snap-shot is interesting,as subtle shifts would be useful in various scenes based on mood.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm still using some old 2008 IBL's, so bought a simple new one from a big name vendor here at Rendo published in 2014; result was subtly different, skin a bit shinier, but the darkness of the stock C6 mat didn't change. At the moment the only light set I have with a dome is an outdoor set, and scenes (even Callie 6's skin) look bright - as if outdoor. I should probably follow up on WandW's suggestion though.
However, I did get the Yannek's "Fusion Skin Texture for Callie 6" from DAZ, which shows a disproportionate difference. Given the promo text for "Fusion" is little more than "Hey, here's another skin for Callie 6 you can buy", I wonder if it was actually made for use in Poser?
Upper left: DAZ 3D's promo for Callie 6
Lower left: DAZ 3D's promo for Fusion Skins
Upper right: Callie 6 in PoserPRO 2014
Lower right: C6 Fusion skin in PoserPRO 2014
I guess (to me) this clearly shows how the skin is bundled matters. In DS, the Fusion skin almost looks a little darker than the base skin, yet is much lighter in Poser. I'll eventually get the "Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female" module, but DAZ (so far) is not discounting.

I did upload a 4-image scene of Coral for Callie 6 - renderosity.com 'Thank heavens for ...'
She's not so dark because I selected a lighting set (somewhat toon-ish) which doesn't cause the dark tan skin.

Thanks for all the advice!
Yah, this notion of using G2F in Poser can be a bit of a ticking time bomb! I know all the various G2F gals have different UV, but per some forum posts I have seem at daz3d.com, these are 'optimizations', meaning a V6 MAT should fit (per DAZ) a C6 CR2 just fine, however since C6 is distorted (compared to V6), some sections of the MAT will be stretched unnaturally. This won't be visible with a clean skin, but anything with freckles or marks will look ... stretched! I have seen this in V4/A4, where a simple leg position stretched the buttocks MAT badly.
The more i work with callie 6 in PPro 2014, the more I love her! :) I've sent IM to a few of the Renderosity vendors selling G2F skins. I hope one has a nice PPro native texture set I can use on G2F! Life is change. We struggle against it (like my A3 affection clouding A4 acceptance ... maybe now is G2F's time?). Admittedly, I have a huge crap-load of V4/A4 accessories, but I also had a lot of A3 back in 2009.

Okay, I put the EzSkin in both the c:program Files & c:program Files (x86), and it was slight improvement - C6 looks more tan than ethnic. I found your sharecg defs helpful - may thanks.
As for Bree, I found her thanks to your pointer, but PP2014 complains the MAT zones don't exist when applied to C6; as I'm new to handling G2F in poser, I've no comment on that warning.
I am still holding out hope that a vendor in the 'skin business' making V4/A4 mats for Poser & also G2F has a product which is optimized for use on DSON imports.
DSON actually works better than I'd expected; my early experiments were faulty in that i didn't realize DAZ moved all the morph/pose dials to the body. So when I first imported an A6 last year, her 'HEAD' has zero pose settings - no mouth_open, etc, and though that was half-baked. Now I see it's all in the body, plus the resulting pzz/pmd are like 10% the size of the A4 equivalent, which has to be good. Plus it is cool to have the clothing follow the body during clothing so well - with A4 I always need to adjust the hips.
