Tjohn, Your post is appearing in black text on a the dark background so it was hard for me to read. anyway you don,t use the Alt key, just hold down > shift+ctrl together as you exit the object attributes using the "tick".

Just tested this in 5.5, 6.3, 7.1 and it still works in each of them for me. I seem to remember playing with this feature back in bryce 4.

Something that might be handy for you. Shift + click when selecting a metaball creates a "negative" metaball which allows for boollean operation with normal metaballs. I was actually messing around with metaballs just yesterday.

Willie, which version of bryce are you using ???
I just applied a terrain mat to a rock then added some displacement using B7pro version 7.1.0.109. It was slow and I had to wait in the mat lab for the preview to stop rendering but it did work.
