FyreSpiryt said - "In an ideal world, I'd like to see Poser bought by Adobe or Corel or a similar company that can put enough resources into it." Well, Adobe has taken large financial losses and has laid off, IIRC, 25% of their staff. As for Corel, would you want them to handle Poser the way they handled Bryce? I hope all of the naysayers and badmouthers can finally get a goodnight's sleep. Looks like they won.

Thread: My Stance on Poser 5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
For once, I would like to see a thread that would be helpful in making up my mind whether or not to purchase P5. I heard so many bad things about Bryce 5, but I bought it anyway and it runs flawlessly on my system. Such a tough decision. BTW, real low blow casting doubts on someone's honesty just because they speak out negatively. It suprises how shitty the "big names" can get and still maintain the respectable status.

I will gladly give $5,000.00 and 2 out of my 3 testicles for a copy of that wonderful software! I am overwhlemed by the collision detection apparent on the left wrist and hand. This is great! I am already working on a clothing pack and morph set for the marketplace. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thread: Is P5 Keylocked? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Referring to #24. This is what I do all day: Local Hardware locks: 20/20 Design Lectra U4ia -each dongle must be licensed individually Datacad Predator Lightwave Network Dongles: MasterCAM Lathe MasterCam Mill MasterCam Wire FlexLM: GibbsCAM Unigraphics Arc/Info Catalog A few othere that I cant remember cuz the kids are waiting to leave and are driving me batty. =) The only savior I have at work is the unlimited licenses of Autodesk and Microosft Products that require only a serial number and no other copy protection. In short, I know all about the licensing headaches of these products at my employment, and I refuse to go through it at home too.

The response code is in itself a major pain, but I hope that CL chose to leave the cydoor out of it. THey used this is Avatar Labs and it killed the floppy drives in a lot of computers that run Windows XP Pro. I speak from experience, it happened to my. The cydoor is, basically, a piece of software that sets itself up as hardware device, uses an IRQ, and must be present for the program to run. Unofrtunately, in XP Pro, the IRQ that it uses is the one assigned to the floppy drive. It was nasty. CL never provided a fix for it. Just pointed people to the manufacturer of Cydoor for the patch.

I haven't been able to reach the owner this afternoon, but I do know that the store is being relocated to a brand new, much larger and faster hard drive of it's own so we can continue to grow as well as make room for some really cool content coming in that will nearly double the size of the store. I do not know of this has anything to do with what is going on, but all the error messages point to the store being locked. I'm sure that the bugs will be worked out soon. Thanks for the concern.

The hires exture did have a problem when they were first released, but DAZ emailed everyone who wrote to them a link to download the corrected version.
Thread: The Daz/Poser Pros Merger - To PP or Not to PP | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Daz and PP should not be suprised that there was bitching. 1) Chad Smith had done an awful job of relaying to the public his company's stance on derivitive works. It was poorly written, over written, and talked around the customer, not to the customer. People, including me, got really pissed. 2) Rumours flew that CL was going to claim copyright to all items created within Poser that used the proprietary Poser fiel extensions. (cr2, pp2, hr2...) People, including DAZ, got really pissed. 3) Mehndi, love her or hate her, has a reputation of being, well, less-than-nice, from time to time. We seem to be on a nuetral ground. (for now anyway A lot of people also remembered Mehndis dream to build the "elite" poser store and figured that the Poser Pros/Daz merger was going to be that dream. It was also coupled with paranoia that Daz derivitive merchandise could only be sold at DAz or PP. Everybody got pissed. It's over now. Something is bound to come along and take it's place. ((Please note that this is not a dig at DAZ, their front line customer service has always been first rate.))
