Thanks! I think those textures I had on sale back then were closed because you could see too much skin, I really don't know, it don't matter to me now.

One thing to remember when using transparency mapping to simulate clip mapping is that you can get problems with specularity. A way to avoid that is to use the same image you are using for transparency mapping as a Specular_Value map. ... just a tip /Mattias

"Does the latest red-hot graphics card the gamers are buying make any difference for 3-D work?" Yes they usually do (all the "big ones" at least), but Poser do not make use of "hardware acceleration". "And what about other render engines?" In Poser you can only use the P4 or Firefly rendering engines. I would suggest (as everyone else) alot of RAM, minimum 1 Gb (dual channel). One thing to keep in mind when bying a motherboard is how many RAM-slots it has. Usually there are 3, which is useless if you are going for "dual channel" because you can only use "pairs" of RAM. Buy a motherboard which have 4 RAM-slots (dual). In that case you could start with 1 Gb (2x512 Mb) RAM and later on (if need be) expand with another 1 Gb (2x512 Mb).

lol This really got me started up... right now I'm searching trough my old (really old, these are on diskettes!) images for those I made on the Amiga in Truespace... (think it was called Caligary or something, then) .. I hate to get this nostalgic! :-) /Mattias/

Thread: Firefly Rendering Problem. Smooth polygons problem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi Manuel! Put some polys very, very, near each end of the pole ("knife" or "bandsaw" it in LW) You could "unweld" the ends of the pole instead (but that sort of "cheating" you know. ;-) /Mattias/

"Truespace looks interesting" It's "wonderful" software, it's really fun and easy working with! It's been some years since I used it so I cannot answere anything about groups and scaling... :-/ Lightwave, especially if you're into modeling for Poser would be my first choice thou! /Mattias/
Thread: MAT P5/PP | Forum: Poser Technical
Thanks for answering klapakling! I posted this question in the Poser forum too and got some answeres. The problem, as I understand, is that you can not use an image-map to control the specular- or reflection-value in PP. My example here would end up leaving a "ghost" on the transparent part of the object in PP. It works great in P5 thou. :-)

Hi Manuel! I think you should try Jim Burtons advice. Otherwise (alot of mesh tweaking) you could try using only your abdomen and hip bones, adding a "skirt bone" for the rest (as a child to the hip), just for minor bending. The different poses you then control through morphs. If you still are setting up the groups in LW then just keep the Abdomen and Hip groups (as closely as possible to the original mesh) just make the remaining polys a group (part) named "skirt".
