Okay, I did the Lion installation this morning and open Poser as my first program... Â It was painfully slow at first. Â It was enough that I fretted about restoring my backup and doing the upgrade later. Â When i returned, I tried again and it was more than fine. Â The library menu clearly has a minor issue or two but I can live with it. Â I should confess that I use an aditional third party library tool along with Poser 8's library. Â Carrara Pro was stunning.... Bryce was troublesome and wouldn't quit properly but nothing I can't live with. Â Groboto was fine and I was too scared to try Hexagon. Â The upshot is that I am sticking with Lion.

I tried it briefly this morning and noticed that it moved very slowly.... I would wait for a patch first.

I should point out a semantic issue... People with computers should be doing two things... the first is backing up their computer i.e... have a second  hard drive where critical data is copied and stored in case of a crash and second... an archive such as some nonvolatile media such as cd or dvd which is recopied every few years as the media decays.  Traditionally, the archive is is kept in duplicate off site.  People often think of the archive as a backup but the backup changes and exist only to help you recover after a crash while the archive is the stored repository of your purchases, photos, music and other valuable items and is basically never touched.
Thread: What's happening with my poser props? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I haven't yet, partly because it is all happening in the runtime from my old Poser 4 days.... all of the problems seem to linked just to that runtime... all of the props appear in the Poser  7 runtime and the application I have has no problem installing things into the Poser 7 runtime...  I'm not sure what is a damaged runtime...
Thread: Question for MAC Computer Users | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't normally answer these sorts of questions but being a long time mac user in a mixed mac/pc environment, I would say: 1) a superlative workflow with systemwide color management (useful in graphics), 2) a consistent interface (I once had to help someone save a document in a swedish program even though I didn't speak the language), 3) excellent albeit expensive hardware (notice how often they appear in ads or movies of how the editor of PC World runs vista on a macbook pro), 4) a virtually virus-free environment (even when Macs were 50 or 60% of the market), and 5) people forget that most of the major programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Metacreation’s Poser started out as mac only programs. I personally hate it when people treat the choice like a religion whether to use a mac or pc since it is a complicated equation of what you want to spend, what you want your computer for, how much you want back if you sell it, how much hassle you will put up with etc... Just as I like that there are options such as Poser and Daz Studio, or the plethora of 3d rendering programs, it is good to have a diversity of platforms for computer users. The limitations are annoying partly because it is the pressure of the market and what I think are short sited business decisions that create these limitations but those are becoming less and less as users can fire up Boot Camp, Parallels, or other methods to use pc programs without having to stay in the environment. Of course, 99% of figures, models, textures etc... already work on a Mac.

I would like a live action "Household Gods by Judith Tarr and Harry Turtledove", a children's movie of Sabriel by Garth Nix, and a CGI version of Neuromancer by William Gibson

I haven't tried groboto 2 and Bryce but it works beautifully in Carrara. I have used the original groboto a lot with Carrara for doing scientific biological images; it is unrivaled for an organic feel.

Thread: Is there a way to convert a solid to a skinned model in Carrara or Hexagon? | Forum: Carrara
I have these shapes some of which are extruded from illustrator shapes. When a Boolean operation is performed on them or vertexes are deleted, the are hollow inside. I also have an obj I bought which when sliced or has vertexes deleted are solid all the way through. Is there a way to move from one to the other?
