Vue Animation Master Phoul has put up a Flash procedural terrain tutorial on his website, which you may find useful. It'll only be up for a limited time however.

I also use them a lot of the time, particulary to add depth to a scene. But then again, it depends on what I'm trying to achieve - and if the effect is too washed out, then I crank'em right back or set them at 0.The volumetric sphere approach is more controllable, but thick fog this way has a habit of showing the sphere/primitive edge in the fog if you are not careful.
There was an interesting thread here a while back on the different effects you can achieve by just altering the Fall-off and Altitude settings.
See the link at the top.

Within Vue? Lots of trial and error, as the prog is not really suited to modelling, only having the primitive/boolean option. Your best bet would be to use a dedicated 3D modelling prog like Wings3D or Blender.
Thread: Some Poser stuff not working in Vue Infinite.. | Forum: Vue
I have had Vue 4.2, Vue 5 Esprit, Vue Infinite and Vue Easel all running on the same PC, so I don't think that is a general issue.
Thread: Just how intensive is XFrog in Vue? | Forum: Vue
There not selling the DVDs, just the single plants. Each one contains 3 versions of the plant, plus billboard and the xfrog version.
Thread: Just how intensive is XFrog in Vue? | Forum: Vue
Individual plants from the Xfrog collections are becoming available at Cornucopia3D in their 'Static Plants' section.
Thread: Free plants | Forum: Vue
It does have its limitations, certainly. Whilst there are some new varieties added in Vue 5 to those that came with Vue 4,I guess that they didn't include too many as they were possibly holding them back for Cornucopia3D.

Just a suggestion, but why not use a mixed material on the forested terrain, mixed with the beach material? That way you could adjust how far the beach material extends into the forest material with either a distribution map or using the slope and altitude effects tab. Shouldn't be too difficult to achieve a more realistic transition between the two terrains. There's an ultra basic tutorial about mixing materials at my site that may give you some ideas on what you are trying to achieve in Vue. http://niandji.com/html/tutorials.html
Thread: Vue Infinite crashes | Forum: Vue
No problem. Let us know how you get on, it would be interesting to see if this is a repeatable error.
Thread: how do create a plant? | Forum: Vue
"Well that sux!!!
There's one up for Bryce at least you can import created obj plants and save them in the plant library."
Whoohoo, go Bryce....hmmm, hang on a sec.
Actually, in all versions of Vue you can import created obj plants and save them in the plant library. Just that the 'plant library' will have to be a folder in your 'Objects' folder.
Thread: Vue Infinite crashes | Forum: Vue
Haven't had that problem. As you say strange...but then again vue is not actually crashing, is it?
After you close Vue, check in the task manager to see if there is process called Vue still running - if so close it from there, just to see if you get the not responding message.
Also, you can stop Vue from trying to connect to the net in 'FileOptions' which I suspect may be the cause of the problem - a connection to the net called vue, rather than Vue Infinite.
What's the number of the update you are using? The latest full version is 5.08 - Build 278365, which as far as I know, disabled the intended integration with Cornucopia.
Thread: Like Vue, Really Dislike E-On | Forum: Vue
I take it you've complained about this in the Store forum at C3D or in the tech support at E-on - whichever it was that refused your card?
Thread: vue 5 easel+poser ? | Forum: Vue
I wouldn't say that, you are not comparing like for like.
Vue Easel is an entry-level product - Vue 3 was the full package.
Vue Easel is Vue 5 lite - its designed for first time 3d users and as an introdution to the Vue 5 range, at a resonable price.
Therefore it will be of limited use to experienced Vue users, but does have most of the features of Vue 5, albeit at a reduced functionality in many cases, and will get users of Vue 3.1 on to the Vue 5 upgrade path.
Of course, you are entitled to your personal opinion, but once you posted in this thread, it was no longer private!. ;o)
Thread: vue 5 easel+poser ? | Forum: Vue
Easel doesn't have the material summary button on the screen, but you can access it by pressing F6. And no, I don't know why the button isn't on the screen. ;o}
