Chris, never mind about the lithunwrap -- I Googled it, found it, and downloaded it. In that regard, at least, I will try what you say. I have Z-Brush, but I am even furthe behind on the learning curve there.

Thanks, chris. While I followed most of that, I am unfamiliar with lithunwrap. I am also unclear on how displaying UV mapped textures in quadrants helps to display or modify them on a mesh. Yes, I use curves for all of my color and brightness matching.

Quote - Have you export the V4 character from Poser using the preset for Photoshop?
No, I've just exported it an an *.obj with the associated *.mtl file it loads into PS fine, textures intact. Just haven't quite gotten down how to load a second layer of textures yet.

Thanks again. Yes, I use the material room for things like tattoos, but I'm trying to learn how to do some of this stuff in PS, and blending skin textures may be better suited to PS if I can figure it out. I will try your double-click suggestion - see if Windows 7 is the same deal.

But what I am after is a way to load two layers of UV maps, say, for the torso, then apply a layer mask to the top layer and blend in some of the bottom layer.

That's a pretty complete rundown. Thanks you.
As you point out, it's not rocket science -- all makes perfect sense. It is just nice to see all the specifics laid out, and I appreciate it.

bagginsbill,
For all things related to materials, you are my hero. So, thank you for your response! I think that I understand this to pretty much re-iterate what Gareee had said in English (vs legalease). So, I think I know the score, and I am happy to abide by the law. Thank you. But still, I would like to read something other than the DAZ EULA, something that is more in real English, that interprets all of these legal arguments in a way that a non-lawyer can really understand.
Is there anything like that out there, or must I finish my law degree before I can offer my creations for sale?

Thank you, Gareee.
That makes sense, but I would still lke to be abele to read or review some specific legsl rules. Is there a link to such information?

Works now, and thanks to you all for the help!hanks, well turns out my model had two materials and, when I 'flipped normals" the glove was right, but the forearm band was reversed. It helped a lot to know what the problem was, but, even from my modeling app (Silo) I could not reverse the faces on that one part. I basically started over. It is a learning process.
Works now, and thanks to you all for your help. I'm shutting down now - will check during my trip, but will probaply have to wait to reply after I return in a week.

Thanks, all.
I tried PhillCs suggestion to flip normals on import (sounded like the easiest) and that worked. Now, I need to go back throug confoming and adjusting joints oh well.
Any idea how they got reversed? Seems like I'd have had to do something to make that happen!
Thanks again.

I don't use Poser for anything - I'm not an artist. Poser lighting and shaders is just an interesting puzzle. It's like sudoku for me - relaxing to figure out how to make it work, for no other reason than it is hard.
You seem to have a pretty good eye for art. Maybe that is the essence of real art, like trying to solve a puzzle. It seems to be a lot of why I enjoy Poser. I'm no artist, either - but I think I've produced some pretty good artwork with a tool that I,too, find challenging.
I appreciate your thread, here!
Thread: Buying new 64 BYTE COMPUTER FOR POSER | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Personally, I'm with MikeJ on building, but if your time isn't worth it then a package is fine, too. I just (over the holidays) built a new system based on a Core 2 Duo E8400 with an MSI MoBo, 8 GB DDR2 1066 RAM, GeForce 9800 GTX+ video, and a 1 terebyte HDD running on Vista 64 BIT OS. Threw in case with 650 W PS, and a Blu-ray DVD player (burns all but Blu-ray), and a super powered CPU cooling fan. All was under $1000 at NewEgg.com.
But this brings up my next issue - I was going to start a new thread but it seems to fit in this discussion. How do I use all this power in Poser? I am looking to tweak my Firefly render engine to speed things up a bit, but I don't understand the settings well enough to know what to mess with...
With no tweaks at all, a 64-bit render (in the "background" in poser pro) is a little faster, but I'd have to use a timer to tell how much - so far not a lot. Would like to hear anyone's thoughts on using high-end power with Poser!
Paul
