Ohman, I have had no problems either with my XP/Poser working together. I would suggest, like thgeisel, that you look for updated drivers. I would also visit the Windows Update page at the Micro$oft site. I do not know off hand if there are any updates available for the Swedish version of XP, but you never know what's up with MicroSoft or their software. Also XP's Help program may actually be of help these days. After starting it up you will see the option to "Find compatible hardware and software for Windows XP" under the heading "Pick a Task". I have not tried it yet, but I know it's there. It might offer you some assistance in correcting this problem your having.

Yes I have seen tutorials like this in action. Some were extremely helpful. As for myself, it is always better to understand something by seeing it done in a fluid motion, as compared to static images that often do not include that one little thing that keeps me guessing what I forgot to do to get the same effect. To be honest, I have often wondered why this type of tutorial has not taken the Poser community by storm. Then again, as you have already said, it is not for the weak PC to create these type of tut's. I have added the above link for anybody to see for themselves what this is that you have brought to our attention. Granted the site deals mainly with LightWave tutorials, but you'll soon understand how this can be of great help to Poser people when the application is used for creating Poser tutorials.Thread: Looking for talented artist....... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Well I got as far as the 'big-assed' animated gif. When i seen the dimensions for it, then realized it was an animated gif, i just left and came back here. I don't know too many folks that would wait long for a page to load before they went someplace else.
Also I see that fauve mentioned that it was going to be a pay site, (I guess fauve hung around long enough for it to load). Well meaning this in the nicest possible way, your layout, at least what I did see before leaving, was rather simplistic to the extreme. From the text and horizontal rules that I did see, you are seriously lacking content and design. You might want to go to one of the various sites that deal with helping beginners in the basics of good web page design. One of the very first things that a lot of them will tell you is NOT to have large animated gifs. It is a major turn-off to surfers. At least I didn't get any of those pop-up windows.
Don't be discouraged by my words here. I urge you to try new designs and new layouts. With a little practice, and some patience, I'm sure, in time, you will be able to create a site that is both surfer freindly, and more mature,(for lack of a better word, no pun intended).
Should you need any leads to web sites that offer decent instructions to the art of web site design, please don't hesitate to contact me. I will help you all I can.
Ciao

Thread: Win XP's licensing agreement | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well my take on the article was that all the hoopla was geared towards the business environment, not the private sector. I have XP on my system now, and I am not bound to upgrade in two years, three years, four years, or ever. If you are trying to alert the private individual that Micro$oft will lock them into an upgrade contract, this is NOT the case. The controversy is over business' being bound to such a contract. The only thing that I can see at this time that would effect the private individual is that businesses finding themselves trapped into this 'scheduled' and contractual agreement with Micro$oft will defer the cost by raising the prices of their services and or goods. Thus, we the private individuals will pay higher prices. In the end, it's always the little guy that gets the shaft.

It's that critical eye that makes some of us strive towards perfection. I think the next version will actually look more like a diferent model altogether. I have had some folks give me pointers and ideas that on the most part are quite good and correct. Yours included Ironbear. Though I will say this. For my first 'made-from-scratch' attempt at modeling, I think I did pretty well. And judging from the comments I have recieved, both here in this thread as well as elsewhere, most other folks think so too. I'm a happy camper. ;o)

XP has been running my apps smoothly. Only problem was with 3D Studio Max's C-dilla licensing. However, Discreet has an update for the licensing problem within XP posted at their site.

I suppose you could also alter the bump map so that the exposed flesh still retains the bump while the painted on clothing is left flat. But I'm sure you have already thought of this.

wgreenlee1: They're 'speeeeecial' bullets dontcha know. aleks: The gun is his. He'll take it with him when he leaves. The bullet on the other hand, that stays in his target. Scarab: I think I like your method a bit more then mine. It's more personal..........(to hell with the dry cleaning)hehehe

NO NO NO. I didn't mean it that way. I was chuckling over your choice of terminology. " Ooops Me Bad ;) " and the fact that you say you forgot to say what you wanted to say in the first place. I thought it was funny because I have done the same darn thing myself on MANY occasions. ;o)

Whoa.......let me reply in order of appearance. SAMS3D: I thank you kindly for your thoughts on my model. I truly love to get feedback, especially of this sort. Helen: I am so glad to hear that you like the work that I have done with this. When I finish with my current project, of which you so graciously helped me to get back on track, I will send you a copy for you to use as you see fit. Thanks again. wgreenlee1: 1) 92845 vertices 165872 faces..............do the math. hehehe 2) No, texture maps are not needed. However, you are more then welcomed to make your own. (pssst..send me a copy) 3) As for the caliber. This is a hand-made, custom-built, precision instrument. Certain aspects of its design are to be kept secret, for security purposes. Only the maker and those who seek to become proficient with such a tool are privy to this information. 4)Ooops...my bad. In the early stages of conception, it was not planned to be a multi-piece set. The 'Full Clip' was an after thought, as were the other assorted pieces. The idea that the ammo rounds in the full clip were too short, totally got by me. As a matter of fact, since you have brought this to my attention, every time I look at the pictures now, all I see are the too-short rounds gleaming at me from the top of that darned clip. This is something that I will rectify in version two. ...............thanks for the look out. 5) Do you see that scope sitting there all by itself on the left side of the picture? That bad little boy can be used to equip the rifles without scopes............at least that's the idea I had in mind. 6) Should you look closely at the rifles without scopes AND silencers, you will see that there are indeed sights at the end of the barrel. And before you ask how to shoot the rifle that has NO scope but does have a silencer, the answer is this: Not all manifestations of this rifle are meant to be used for shooting. These are for scenes that have a Sniper/Assassin involved in them. Now we all know that Assassins do not just carry their guns around for all to see. So these guns are in various states of assembly/disassembly for use as the situation calls for. There will be at a later time, a version that can be TOTALLY broken down and carried in a fitted aluminum case. But not this version. ;o) 7) Mike hasn't complained about the angle relation between the stock and grip yet. If he has any reservations about the design, he's keeping them to himself. Therefore, I see nothing to be fixed here. The grip and stock are two individual pieces. I could easily change the angle if I thought there was a need. 8) No not at all. I enjoy responding to questions so very much. Especially when all I really wanted were comments. LOL smerc: Why thank youuuuuu. I used 3D Studio Max to model it. I'm happy with it, and I'm glad you like it as well. WTB: Yes, a military rifle would be timely. The state of the world today is resounding in military conflict. I have many thoughts on this matter. But I will reserve those thoughts for a more relevant forum. This rifle however, is a tool for an Assassin. Laurie: Ooops..my bad. I surely need to start running that spell checking software that resides on my HDD someplace. Irene: Yes I understand that not everyone is into the things that I am, and I respect that. And for you to stop and take the time to make such a nice comment, all I can say is 'Thank you for the sincerity I see in your words' B.T.W. I used Studio Max
