Well, it worked! I am now running Poser 6 in Tiger. I just wish I had the time to play with it tonight, but softball calls...
Thread: Poser 6 and Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
esther, that's entirely the wrong thing to say! ;) Actually, I sent a support request to e-frontier about this and within 1 hour I received a response with some things to try: - check permissions (all are correct) - zap the PRAM / restart in Safe Boot / delete Poser 6 folder / reinstall / try launching Poser 6 (I'm trying that next - stay tuned). I must say I'm impressed with the quick response from the support folks - they did it in record time! I just hope their advice works...
Thread: Poser 6 and Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I was just looking in the Macintosh forums here at Renderosity and there does seem to be some serious issues with Poser 6 and Tiger. I wish I would have checked there before buying the upgrade (a fool and his money...). As for putting it on a 10.3.9 partition, that's not really an option for me. Dang it! This is frustrating as hell!
Thread: Church WIP (paper render) | Forum: Carrara
Paper model kits! Oh, I get it now. Is that why the arches have straight edges? Now it makes sense. Forget my comment about the round arches. They look great. I'll try to pay attention next time.
Thread: Church WIP (paper render) | Forum: Carrara
Traditionally, a church of this nature (looks to be Roman style) would have a center aisle for the priestly procession (or, if you prefer, think of a wedding procession - the bride shouldn't have to walk towards the alter from a side aisle, should she?). The pews should extend from the center aisle all the way to the arched columns with the outer walkway (or aisle) in the shadows between the arched columns and the outer walls. I agree also that the pews would normally be closer together front to back (although I'd personally prefer more space as it's easier to get around people that way in real life).
The sectioned arches seem a bit odd to me (straight edges, not round), but that is simply a stylistic factor that I would prefer.
I love the look of this render. The lighting and shadows are excellent. The paper texture makes all the difference. Overall, a wonderful achievement.

Thread: Fonts in Carrara 3 | Forum: Carrara
I love my G5 Dual 2G Mac, and OSX. My only real complaint is the way the system scatters font folders all over the place, but that's for another forum... I am surprised that Carrara doesn't recognize OT fonts. They've been around for some time now. I've got Carrara 4 Pro and there is no mention of OT compatibility in the manual, and they don't show up in the type menu. Any plans for OT compatibility in the future?
Thread: Bryce 5 & Mac OSX? | Forum: Bryce
Thanks, Dan. That helped clear things up. Bottomline: I think I'll wait for now, since I'm having plenty of fun figuring out Carrara 4 anyway and wouldn't have much time for Bryce as well.
Thread: Bryce 5 & Mac OSX? | Forum: Bryce
Thanks for the quick responses! I love coming to Renderosity with questions because I usually get answers right away. To roobol and Jausse: Do you have any of the problems dan mentioned? Specifically the part about the CPU running at 100% in Bryce, even when idle? That can be pretty noisy on my Dual G5 with all nine fans running ("Please place your tray tables in their upright and locked positions and prepare for take off"). All the other issues mentioned I can live with, but that CPU issue would make me wait for updates.
Thread: Challenge for September | Forum: Challenge Arena
Golly! Thanks everyone! My sincerest apologies for not setting up a new challenge. I just got back from vacation and only now signed on and learned of the final results. Looks like RumRunner has done what needed to be done and set up a new challenge for October. Sounds great to me. And again, thanks so much for all your encouragement. It's the nourishment upon which every artist grows.
Thread: Sigmadog... please come in.... | Forum: Challenge Arena
Apologies to everyone! I've been away on vacation and just got back. Didn't even know I won until now. Thanks, again, and RimRunner, I'm all for you assigning the new challenge. Sorry I screwed things up.
Thread: Just got the beta....LOL | Forum: Carrara
I just received an email from Eovia informing me of a delay in shipping which they say will be only a few days. No big deal, since the beta is working fine.

Thread: Carrara 3 interface improvements. | Forum: Carrara
I've only started playing with my beta version, but I have to agree with everything so far being quite smooth and trouble-free. The only thing that seems odd to me with the interface is that the size transformation menu is in the "Motion" tab. That seems a bit strange, since most people don't think of re-sizing as a function of motion (not me, at least). But this is teeny-tiny quibble, and doesn't in the least detract from my enjoyment of this version. Like Hoofdcommisaris, I am using 3D to enhance my design biz, and it's a pleasure to have a peice of software that is simple when I need it to be, and complex when I need something more robust. Now I'll start looking for ways to incorporate Carrara into more and more of my projects. Yeehaa!
Thread: Considering move from C1.1 to C3 | Forum: Carrara
Thanks, Mark and Paul; Yes, that makes sense. I probably fiddled with the motion path on another frame and that screwed me up. Sounds like I'll be ordering the new version soon.
Thread: dragon head | Forum: Carrara
Woa! I can smell the dragon breath from here. Very nice. The flaps on the side of the head seem particularly well done. I agree that reversing the direction of the teeth would enhance the reality (?) of the model.
